Claymore ep01- 大剣 -クレイモア-
OP: “Raison D’être” by Nightmare
The story starts with some swift but deadly killing of a demon by unknown Claymore. Illuminated by a eerie red glow, the Claymore delivers a lethal blow towards the monster and slaughtered it without mercy. The monster is known as a Yoma and the hunter is a Claymore - a semi yoma, semi-human entity who is proficient in killing the Yomas. The scene shifts towards a little town where mysterious killings are taking place. The village elder has no choice but to employ for the services of a claymore which the others dread as a Claymore is after all, a semi yoma..
Rak seems like the male lead of the show (never seen the manga before…so I may be wrong). He seem to be interested in the female Claymore, he followed her around and explained several things to her although the female Claymore was pretty not interested. It was later known that Raki’s parents were killed by the Yomas and his brother and him were the survivors after the onslaught.
As Raki returns home for dinner, he found out that his uncle was brutally murdered just like the victims of the unknown killings. He ran and but was stopped by his brother and to his horror, his brother was the Yoma that had commited the killings around the town. Apparently, it wasnt his brother but rather when it killed Raki’s parents, the Yoma took over Raki’s brother hence his thoughts and physical looks were the same. Just as the Yoma was about to kill Raki, the Claymore appeared and with a swift blow, she chopped off the Yoma’s arm. Needless to say, the Yoma was peanuts to the uber Claymore. The outcome? a fatal blow towards the Yoma’s face that sliced it up half. Raki couldnt believe what he saw and broke down.
Raki was thrown off the cliff, for the villagers feared that he might be a Yoma as well. Poor Raki had nowhere to go and collapsed in a desert. Luckily, he was saved by the Claymore. After he awaken, he searched the town to look for the Claymore. A townsfolk mentioned that a Claymore was waiting for him in the forest. In the forest, he saw a armor clad woman but unfortunately, it wasnt the Claymore that he saw back in his hometwon. The suspicious looking claymore introduced herself as a Claymore and this gave her away. Raki backed off and the woman turned out to be another Yoma. Grabbing Raki by the head, the Yoma called out for the Claymore.
The real Claymore appeared and the Yoma threatened to kill Raki unless she threw away her sword. The claymore obeyed and hurled the sword away. The Yoma striked but didnt realise it was a strategy by the Claymore to lure the Yoma away from Raki and preventing it from escaping. The Yoma struggled as the Claymore delivers the fatal blow towards its head.
Raki wants to thank the Claymore but she mentions that she is not doing this for him but rather just to complete her mission in killing the Claymore. Raki was not affected by her words but thanked her again truthfully from his heart. The Claymore seems to be swayed a lil by his words and memories of her past flooded her. The claymore asked if he has anywhere else to go and decided that he can follow her as a cook. The episode ends with the both of them walking towards the forest.
I apologise for my incomplete and lousy summary for this series but in short, I can say this anime series rocks. Lots of blood, Lots of killings and the story seems interesting for me to watch it all towards the end but the soundtrack for this anime seems lacking. I couldnt find the feeling and emotion being built up especically during the battles. I hope it gets better. ;)

I watched it for the first time last week after reading the manga. I really like the anime version, it matched with what I expected. I also think the OP and ED are well suited
