While this is a little piece of old news but when I got to know about it, I was damn excited! Yes, one of my fave games on the PS2, Ar Tonelico will get a sequel on the Playstation2. The full title, if i am not wrong is Ar tonelico 2: Sekai ni Hibiku Shoujo tachi no Souzou Uta (アルトネリコ2 世界に響く少女たちの創造詩). Thanks to megashounen from animeblogger irc, I received another link that contained better screenshots of the game and I found some high-res scans of the magazine :D There is no offcial launch date yet but it is slated for a 2007 release, which i hope it’s true. It seems to me they have improved on the song magic system and several of the gameplay elements. I loved the fact that they retain the Dive system, this is one of the greatest moments in the game that I really enjoyed in AT1. Nuff of the talking here….I will let the screenshots do the wonders. AT2 ftw !!!! oh and btw, this is a jap release annoucement. :) Now hop on to their offcial site and enjoy some nice music from AT2 !
Update: from a japanese blog I saw and with the help of someone helping me in translating, it seems like you can do synthesis in hymnos and do dual singing of hymns?! I wonder if that’s true… :D

My comments:
First of all, YEAH~! I hope they send this to Stateside as well~
It seems like the new protagonist is the “brooding, longhaired type”. More like an opposite of Lyner. And he’s wearing some odd lance on his arm..
The graphics, both field and battle, looks better than the past one~ The battle scenes are more detailed and the magic attacks look more believable.
The blackhaired Reyvateil looks cuter than her blonde counterpart. Seems like they can also perform physical attacks (the blonde one is wielding some thin sabre..).

I HOPE it has a lot MORE hymnos concerts releases! There were so many songs not released on the first game concert CDs (and the musical CDs made it worse, by putting dialogue running over unreleased tracks…).

There will be a US release don’t worry it’ll be here in 2008 NIS America will get the game or you can do what i did play the import then buy the US version as well.

Crouche Letle Pastarie. That’s the name of the blonde Reyvateil, according to a friend of mine. Pretty wierd, if you ask us.
And the dark haired one’s full name is Ruka Turuuriiwaasu(?). Yes, it doesn’t make enough sense, and it was written in Katakana.
Lastly, the protagonist’s “Kuroa Baateru”. Erm..

Holy……those screenshots…GORGEOUS! THIS HAS TO BE RELEASED HERE!(North America)Course, it can be imported, but then some of us wont understand jack of whats going on. C’mon NIS America, pull through! those screenshots are jap and the game is not out yet. relax worrier. it takes time for them to translate and publish on the american shores when the game is out (expect a 2008 year end release? :P )
more or less, imo, they will do a US ver of it since AT1 has gained pretty much popularity.
i am hoping for it too ;)

well….. the main charas are different but there is a few from AT1..and of cos..umm..ya…some very impt chara from AT1 will be in AT2.

I am an anime lover I love the way the japanese does their effort in making this artonelico2 it’s very ineteresting! and much too challenging than the previous artonelico. On artonelico1 I am an avid fan of Misha arcelec lune now here comes a newly image that greatly resembles misha her name is Ruka. I love her also. Hoping that u all gonna buy this stuff or u will definitely miss a fully half of ur lives Tata! till then……….

So they are all new characters? Did they bring back any of the original ones from the fist one? I hate it when they have all new characters in the 2nd ones. NIS has no plans of doing an American version. I did hear about a patetion being started to get them to bring the game to US though. I don’t mean to put down the 2nd game, I just like it when they bring back the origanal characters for the sequal.

AT2 continues the story from AT1 on another tower (frelia) in the world.
of course the story in AT2 will be based on new charas but somewhere in the game, u will see the AT1 characters appear and also the ending which will of course hint on AT3.
not telling much details. play the game (if u know Japanese) to know more of the story.
and i read rumors on gamefaqs, there is a press conf for NIS america ? since there is a US ver of disgaea3, i wld say there might be hope for AT2 in english
