sola ep06 – The place of rituals (イケニエノチ)
so much development in this episode…yes..about Aono and Matsuri….

The episode starts to shows about the distant past where Yorito struggles to climb up a hill with his hood on, it was very hot and when Yorito reaches the cave, Matsuri and Aono were inside. Yorito tells the both of them that he might have found a way for Matsuri to be under the sun. Matsuri wakes up from the dream which she had, startled but was relieved to find Yorito beside her, sleeping. She reaches out for Yorito with her hand and realizes that its filled with warmth. The next morning, Mana’s with them for breakfast and is concerned about the man who attacked Matsuri, Mana is aware that Matsuri isnt a human but a Yaka (wraith of the night?), however, Mana gets along with her. In the hospital, Takeshi sees a doctor on the hand that was being paralysed by Matsuri, seems like it is bad but he kept the truth from Mayuko who insists on knowing what had happened. While they left, Mayuko and Koyori bumped into each other. Koyori was there again and mentions that Yorito will visit and tells her something tomorrow when it rains. Aono seems to realize something.

At school, Mana caught Yorito on the rooftop taking pictures of the sky again, he had promised Matsuri to to show him photos of the sky. Mana asks him on how he is going to tell Aono about Matsuri and their relationship, she believes that Aono will not accept that kind of explaination, especially on why Matsuri is staying with him. Mana has a plan in fact..

…and that plan is for them to be a couple. Yorito tells Matsuri and she agrees to it and even suggested to Yorito that they should practice. Yorito gets embarassed and rushes out to grab the futons that he had laid outdoors earlier in the day. When he returns, Yorito explains to her that they have the smell of the sun and tells her to enjoy this by falling onto the futons. Matsuri enjoys the warmth and immediately, she seems to fall asleep. Yorito touches her head to his surprsie, she popped him a question if he had someone who he likes. Yorito denies and Matsuri suggests to kiss. Yorito takes it for real and as he was about to kiss her, Matsuri bursts out in laughter as it was a joke. Her mood changed when Yorito mentions Aono’s name, the person who Matsuri is gonna introduce herself to. Back in the hospital, Aono cuts her finger and lets a drop of blood drip onto an origami frog. The blood immediately disappears as if a magic was placed on the frog.

The next day, Matsuri goes out with Yorito and the sisters to visit Aono but surpisingly, Aono was asleep. Well, she is pretending to be asleep as she knows that Matsuri is here. She opened her eyes when Matsuri left. At night, the rain starts to pour and as they were about to board the tram, Matsuri spotted Aono. She tells them to go back first while she crosses the street. Aono wasnt there but an origami frog was there on the ground and the frog starts to hop..

On a sidenote, Mayuko was struggling to find pails to prevent the rainwater that was dripping to wet the floor, Takeshi was holding a mop and wonders if his hand is gonna stay that way for the time being. Back to Matsuri, she had followed the frog to a tram depot. Aono was inside one of the trams waiting for her. Matsuri recalls the past when Aono slit her throat with a knife, she asks about Yorito but Aono insists that he is her brother. Aono tells her that her powers have returned after over exhausting her powers the last time…

Back at home, Yorito and Mana are arguing if cabbage are allowed to be put inside a sukiyaki. Matsuri returns, the both of them asks her the question, Matsuri believes it shouldnt be put inside, however, Aono thinks otherwise. While they are enjoying the steamboat, Aono states that she will stay in the house and as a condition for Matsuri to stay as well. Matsuri used this chance to tease Yorito about the things the he did with her on the futon last night. Of course, that kind of words gives a wrong impression for Mana and Koyori (lol). Aono doesnt seem to care much either. While clearing the dishes, Matsuri tells Aono that she has a request to make. Later at night, Yorito and Matsuri sneaked in to the school, she had wanted to see how his school was like…

Yorito brings her around the school and eventually he brought her to the rooftop, the place where he took photos of the sky. Yorito promises Matsuri that he will let her see the sky one day.

As Matsuri enjoys the peaceful view of the town, she asks Yorito why do humans sleep. She explains further that it was to forget their pain, uncertainity and when day arrives, humans will welcome the new arrival of a day and embraces it while forgetting the pain. The Yaka are creatures that are created from the pains and uncertainity of the humans that was thrown away in the night. As Matsuri explains, she recalls her past, a distant past where Aono was there as well. She had slit her throat and was motionless in a pool of blood. Matsuri holds her closely and at her throat, she “bites/passes” her wound and Aono was resurrected from her death but she is no longer a human for she, too was another wraith of the night. Matsuri saved her from death but in return, Aono’s life has been damned to live for eternity in the night. When Aono awakes, she pushes Matsuri away and her hand was touched by the rays of sunlight. Immediately, the effects were shown, Aono is no longer a human.

Matsuri finishes her explaination and tells Yorito that Yaka are supposed to live along, she walks towards Yorito, giving him a kiss and walks past him. When Yorito turns around, Matsuri had disappeared into the void of the night.

So much development in this episode and I am very impressed on how sola is moving. Aono’s past is revealed and her reason for staying in the hospital is because she cant reveal herself in the sun for she is another Yaka as well. (good move by aono). The both of them lived for a very long time and Aono has lived with the the current incarantion of Yorito maybe to protect him. It’s unknown what Aono exhausted her powers on the last time, prolly on a battle with Takeshi or something. Aono is now out of hospital and I can expect to see more action if Takeshi strikes again. This time, I can expect no mercy from Aono if Takeshi strikes Yorito’s house again.. (lol). Matsuri’s disappearance in this episode will shift the the attention to Aono temporaily. I hope she will return soon…damn..i am so eager for the next episode :D
