07th-Expansion’s Umineko no Naku Koro Ni (When Seagulls Cry) is the 2nd installment to the Naku series and its first story arc (Legend of the Golden Witch) was released during Comiket 72, the story takes place on an island known as Rokkenjima, where 18 people had gathered to discuss how the assets of the head of the family should be divided once he’s dead. However, a storm takes place and mysterious deaths befall on them. The story takes place in 1986 during the timeframe between 4th Oct - 5th Oct. The first arc’s title - Legend of the Golden Witch refers this witch that is a legend in-game who has been said to live for a thousand years and her existence lies in a world where fate can be visualized (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umineko_no_Naku_Koro_ni )
If you are familar with Haruka Shimotsuki’s tunes and songs, the opening of the Umineko no Naku Koro Ni aint anything new. I loved her musics and tunes and honestly, I still have a deep impression of her Atelier Iris musics and also Ar Tonelico tracks. (woot!). The general theme of Umineko is based a little on western culture in terms of the costumes they wear and also the characters, I have yet heard reviews from people I know but judging from the general story and how the opening is like, it is gonna be good somehow and if it is good ! it could mean a good anime conversion too, although not that soon yet.

That it does. Shikata did about half of Ar Tonelico songs, alongside Shimotsuki, Mitose, Ishibashi.
