[News]
I will cut the story short as there are many sources in the antenna going around. Honestly, I cant help to think if it is like some kind of master plan to delay the tv release with School Days and Higu Kai *jokes*. Ok, nuff for the crap. This appears on asahi.com - 中3少年、おので父親の頭切る 殺人未遂容疑で逮捕
The dad is not dead, fortunately. If he’s dead, I would believe it would create an alarming awareness (prolly it already is) among the public on the kids and their exposure to the media nowadays. No chances for Higu Kai this week prolly. 2 hack cases and that might spell disaster for these 2 anime series. On the other hand, I pray for the dad’s safety and hopefully he will recover soon. As for the boy, I have no damn idea what he might be thinking. The biggest question that is in my mind - Did violence from a certain external source affected his actions ? If there is, what is his source of exposure that affected his thought of hacking his dad ?
No doubt this boy needs some kind counseling but the main debating issue is among the teens and kids that are exposed to the explicit content out there and if such content affects their thoughts in a certain way. Now the next question that I came up with….why an axe ? not a chopper? or a baseball bat?

This reminds me of when a school shooting happens or a child commits a very serious crime in America and everyone blames TV, Internet, Video Games, music, mass media ANYTHING but the parents or the kid in question.
Maybe the mass media had some kind of impact on the kid in a small sense but the kid was not obviously ok, millions of people around the world tune into CSI, 24 and other “Violent” content every day a SMALL FRACTION of people go out and commit crimes.
Plus not everyone who watches that stuff is a bad person. This has been said over and over and over and over again when people do this stupid senseless stuff it’s because there is more going on in their life than they decided playing a video game that “hey I should do this in real life”
Everyone should know the right from wrong and some people in this case a child decided it was right to try and kill his father. Maybe his father is abusive towards him or his mother and he doesn’t know the proper way to alert the authorities.
I can understand the media wanting to play nice and say ok we’ll back off from the shows that have violent content but I think its a slap in the face to the loyal viewers. I think this was just bad timing that these kids are taking such drastic measures into their own hands.
I also see it as what if this keeps happening OR something worse happens is the media going to back down over and over and start putting on “family friendly” shows only?
Another thing I don’t understand School Days for example airs at TWO O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING IN JAPAN! seriously the only way I’d watch it if I lived over there is to Tivo the episodes and watch them later in the day. IF kids are watching this show and getting such deadly ideas don’t blame the show or the broadcasters blame the god damn parents.
If the parents knew what the hell their kids are watching maybe they wouldn’t be so fucked up in the first place, kids can take scenes that are meant for adults and mess them up in their mind it’s the parents job to set them straight and teach them that their are better ways to deal with situations than resorting to the most drastic.
I think all and all for the anime sake the shows wont’ be airing anytime soon or we’ll be forced to buy dvds to find out what we missed because it seems like the media is backing off on showing such dark anime and maybe therei s more that we aren’t seeing as being ousiders looking in. Has there been any other shows put on delay because of these killings that aren’t anime related?
I hope that the broadcasters will stop being cowards and finish off the shows, people have been loyal to the shows and enjoying them they should show them to say that the people who watch these shows should be above the age of 18 and have some kind of warning.
After 9/11 broadcasters didn’t stop airing shows just because it depicted violence neither should Japan, I think the timing is just bad and they should move on. Probably by giving the girl such a large spotlight the boy though oh hey maybe I can be on TV and cause havoc too?
Who knows, get this crap taken care of I want to see the ending of School Days damn it!
Sincerely,
A pissed of anime fan

I sense fury from jellokun.
On topic, I believe taking HiguKai and School Days off tv for a while is the right choice. Much better to hide and lay low then taking the flak for these violence. I can’t imagine what would happen if they aired School Days and some psycho’ed kid killed his ex’s current girlfriend/boyfriend the same way. It’ll probably spell the end of anime as we know it.
Bear in mind Rosen Aso lost the election, so we have no more government support for anime LOL…

I agree completely with your points. Parents nowadays want to point their fingers at everything and everyone but themselves for their chidren’s mistakes. Do I think they are 100% responsible, of course not, but they should shoulder the majority of the responsibility. I’ve played almost every violent video game and seen countless violent movies, but am not a violent person at all….why is that? It is because I know the difference between right and wrong, reality and fiction. I’m sorry, but if your child cannot fully comprehend the difference between fantasy and reality in movies/games, you did a piss-poor job raising them.
