The new season of Shakugan no Shana begins!
Episode 1 – Time For Restart

Summary:

It begins with a new enemy appearing chanting the words “A transient and eternal dream.” Yuuji begins a new school year and meets with his friend Ike. They start talking about Ike having a mock exam and Yuuji going to check out some CDs after school. Yuuji has the feeling that he had this conversation already. A sakura petal falls into his hand and figures out it is September. Everyone seems normal to Yuuji. Shana is escorted by Wilhelmina to school because Wilhelmina wants to know what school Shana is going to. In the classroom, Yuuji remembers the last major battle and can’t remember what Shana said to him when she activated her Tenpa Jyousai ability.

The teacher yells at Hirai A.K.A Shana for not bringing her textbook or her notebook. Shana tells the teacher that he is wrong and says the correct answer is “That which we call a rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet.” Yuuji starts thinking again that this already happen. Kazumi brings in food and shares it. Yuuji, still thinking that everything is the same, a familiar red light appears, a fuzetsu.

Frigane is the one who shows up claiming that this is the first time he met Alastor. Yuuji knows that this is not the first time. Shana battles Friagne the same way as they did the last time. Yuuji is surprised that Friagne show up knowing that he is dead. Everything that is happening is the same as before. While the battle is going, Yuuji sees strange flashes wondering what they were. Marianne attacks Yuuji and gets sliced in half by Shana. Friagne leaves and Yuuji asks questions about why Friagne show up again, but Shana ignores him. Even Ike and Wilhemina ignore him too, when asks them questions. Yuuji thinks that Margery knows whats happening and trys to go to her but ends up going in circles. Yuuji is confused that even Shana doesn’t know what is happening when she is the one that first suspects it.

Giant plant roots start growing announcing the arrival of Sorath and Tyrael. Yuuji runs to Shana seeing that they are taking Shana’s sword. Yuuji thinks he knows what happening and trys to protect Shana, but Shana doesn’t say anything to him. He doesn’t know what she would say to him. He figures out that whatever he doesn’t know, nothing will happen and that this is a world that he created, a dream. Yuuji awakes from his dream hearing Shana’s voice.

There both in a middle of a fight with a Guze no Tomogara. Shana says that this is a weak one, but you shouldn’t let your guard down because she carries a hougu. The Guze no Tomogara shows her face and welcomes back Yuuji from his dream. Using her hougu, she attacks Shana. Shana slices her in half, but she is giggling.

Shana states that this is the first time that she has seen a Tomogara with a small existence. Yuuji saids that the tomogara has a strange power, but he can’t remember his dream. Yuuji asks what Shana has said to him in the last fight. Shana is embarrass and doesn’t want to say. Yuuji and Shana go back to school and reunite with their friends.

Shana sees that Yoshida has made a lunch for Yuuji and is mad and ready for the challenge. Magery is drunk and Keisaku brings her water and says he will get her medicine.

Hecate returns with her servants, Bel~Peol and Sydonay. And the Tomogara is still giggling.

Impression:

I would say that this is a good start. I hope that the plot gets moving. It was kinda sad that Yuuji didn’t remember what Shana had said to him during the fight. The opening and ending are good. Well you really can’t tell much from the first episode. Next episode is Yuuji gets pulled back into his dream, but this time Shana and Yoshida are pull in too, and Yoshida gets capture.
