Red Eyes!
Episode 1 - Renting Useful Magic

Nekoyashiki, Kuroha, and Mikan are truck chasing what looks to be like a dog, but instead it has sharp fangs and can fly. Nekoyashiki is telling the president whose name is Itsuki Iba that they are almost there and is sorry that they got a cheap truck because of their budget. Nekoyashiki tells Mikan to attack, but it is ineffective against the dog. The president, Itsuki Iba, goes on his bike and jumps into the freeway to stop the dog. Nekoyashiki then stops the truck on the other side and tells the dog that there is nowhere to go and to give up. The dog jumps up and attacks Itsuki and the witch, Honami, on her broom, chases after. As she is chasing, the broom stops working because she flew too fast in the beginning. She grabs onto the truck, but she cannot attack the dog because Itsuki is in the way.

Then Adilicia shows up and kills the dog. Adilicia and Honami have a huge fight since they work for different places. Itsuki is praying to a shrine and while he is talking to Kuroha, he faints. When they head home, Itsuki is laying on the shoulder of Honami.

The next day, one of Itsuki’s classmate, Kunugi comes to the Astral asking them to find her missing grandpa. When her grandpa went missing, there was a flock of crows. Kunugi had say that after the mudslide that kill her parents 5 years ago, her grandpa has been acting weird by collecting a lot of antiques and pushing her away.

Itsuki and Kuroha went to check on Kunugi’s house. Nekoyashiki and Mikan are examining around the house finding symbols that are suppose to purify magical energy. Honami shows up because a mage had broke the taboo for soul-returning. The taboo for soul-returning is a spell that revives the dead. Kunugi’s grandpa broke the taboo to survive causing the magical energy around him to become to strong that he couldn’t control anymore. As the three of them are racing to Kunugi’s house, it is covered with a whole bunch of crows. Kunugi, Itsuki, and Kuroha are caught inside and Itsuki’s right eye is hurting. Kuroha puts a protective barrier, but it gets destroy. Kunugi is caught by the flock of crows.

Now everyone is inside. Itsuki rips off his eyepatch. This makes him become a whole new person, someone much more stronger. He tells his teammates to attack the crows. The flock of crows go into Itsuki’s right eye and showing him what had happen to Kunugi and her grandpa after the mudslide. Kunugi doesn’t want to leave her grandpa, but Itsuki tells her that she is not alone. Her grandpa now can rest in peace. After this, Itsuki is exhausted from using his right eye and collapses.

Kunugi thanks Itsuki for helping her and asks for is card and he gives it to her. The next day in school, Adilicia and Honami are mad with each other. To stop them, Itsuki pretends that his eye hurts and they both worry and leave.

Kunugi smiles at Itsuki and he smiles back. Adilicia and Honami were near by and find out that he was lying and the both of them punch him in the head.

Impression

This was an enjoyable episode. It seems like there is something going on with Honami and Itsuki. It was cool that they put the official site on the business card. They didn’t have an opening, maybe the next episode will have an opening. They did have an ending. I actually like the ending theme.

I hope this anime doesn’t become one of those animes where all they do is solve cases. I want some romance! I also like it when they use Jun Fukuyama voice because i enjoyed his voice a lot in Code Geass. I wonder why Itsuki has that red eye, maybe it be explain in the later episode. Can’t wait for the next episode!
