Guess what? Previously, we have School Days being axed off from the TV because of a murder, now we have Kodomo no Jikan being taken off because a preadolescent schoolgirl made sexual advances toward her teacher and was arrested on 1st Oct arrest.
Takayuki Hosoda, a 54-year-old elementary school vice-principal in Sapporo has been charged with soliciting obscene behavior from a 16-year-old girl, and taking and selling obscene photographs of an estimated 600 under-age girls since 2000.
As quoted from ANN,
The TV Saitama and Mie TV stations both announced that they will suspend or delay their broadcasts of Kodomo no Jikan. KBS Kyoto and Chiba TV are currently still planning to premiere the program on early Friday morning and early Saturday morning, respectively.
Talk about hentai ji ji eh?
So what’s next ? Shakugan no SHANA being taken off because kids play with fire and burnt their houses down ? -.-

The thing is School Days and KnJ are based in “real world” type of scenarios and settings while Shana has a certain amount of fantasy elements to distinguish itself. Thus the former two are going to perceivably have more impact because it is more likely someone will be able to gut someone else with a kitchen knife or have a relationship with someone significantly older/younger than him or herself than it is to summon a flame attack.
It really is up to a society to determine what is appropriate and inappropriate. There other people asides from anime fans who watch television in Japan. Those of us outside of Japan can dismiss the pulling of such mentioned shows as knee jerk reactions, but a television station has to be respectful to all of its customers/viewers and make a judgment call on what is in good and bad taste for its entertainment programming (the news side is an entirely different issue).
In short, the current actions of television station is justifiable, as stupid as some might think it is.

Given how censored ep1 is — now that it has aired on those other stations — I don’t see the fuss over cancelling it. -_-
I hope the DVD release doesn’t block everything like the TV airing does…

Hmmm, I wouldn’t call a 16-year-old preadolescent. But whoa, seems like a lot of societal problems have been emerging. Next thing you know, they’ll be taking down Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei season 2 because a school teacher commits suicide.
