The movie is a co-production of Edko Films and French Pathe. Edko is the company of Hong Kong producer Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and French Pathe is the independent French studio which shot the film. The film was shot at locations in Argentina and China…and the language used was English.

Chris Nahon is the director, but I don’t believe Ronny Yu is the producer. He was the original director before Nahon replaced him. According to Variety, the producers are Bill Kong, Jamie Beardsley and Abel Nahmias.

Some of the actors of note include Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun (note, though, from this point on, her international name will be Gianna Jun) as Saya, US actress Allison Miller (guest roles in Cold Case and CSI) as Alice McKee, Japanese actress Koyuki (The Last Samurai) as Diva, and Irish actor Liam Cunningham (Prime Suspect 6) in a currently unnamed role.

Since Koyuki is playing a role called Diva (not in the original movie), perhaps this live action adaptation will be more of a blending of the original film and the Blood TV series.
