[Summary]
Hinamori Amu feels that the Character Guardians are annoying her and are actually doing more harm than good. Feeling rejected by the prince, she rants at Ran and this makes Ran worried. In school, Amu’s classmates are amazed by her bravery to confess to Hotori in the crowd, making her feel wanted. In the physical exercise lesson, it is revealed that Character Guardians cannot be seen by normal human being and proceeds to use Amu to demonstrate her skills at using the horizontal bar.

It is during this moment the second Character Guardian, Miki, makes her appearance. Amu then reprimanded Ran in the toilet, causing Miki to run away. As Amu is poor in drawing, Miki secretly helps by lending her power to Amu, allowing her to draw a portrait of her classmate perfectly. Realizing that Miki is out there, Amu and Ran gives chase, before Miki reveals to Amu that if she stops believing in the Character Guardians, they will disappear.

As Amu heads for the tea party that she’s invited to from the Guardians, a new unknown villain appears, secretly watching Amu and her Character Guardians from a far. The guardians then introduces themselves and their Character Guardians, before Hotori hands her a picture book explaining the existence of the Character Guardians. They then invites Amu to join the guardians, before being rejected because Amu doesn’t like the royal cape. Amu then apologizes and runs out of the royal garden.

This is when she runs into the boy she saved earlier in the first episode, Suzuki, practicing how to use the horizontal bar. After a conversation between the two of them, Suzuki feels very down with all the insults he had received from his classmates before and says that dreams are useless. This when another important element in the story is introduced, the X egg. Amu and Ran then do a Character Transformation and turn the X egg back to normal, returning Suzuki to his original cheerful self, confessing to Amu that he wants her. Feeling embarrassed, she knocks him away, with the guardians watching and laughing away.

[Impressions]
As this is still another introduction episode to Shugo Chara, I think that everything is actually falling into place quite nicely. With the introduction of another Character Guardian and the X egg, this again lets the audience know more about the mechanics in the series. Personally, I hate watching transformation scenes in Mahou Shoujo animes. They always make my hair stand. Actually, when I watched Moe-tan, halfway through the transformation scene I closed the media player and deleted the episode immediately. Shugo Chara is actually not excluded, the transformation did make my hair stand, but I guess it was not as bad as many other Mahou Shoujo animes. Another thing I would like to point out is the “Useless, useless” word that the X egg uses when it speaks. I find it kinda irritating, but I guess it was to make the anime sound cute. Overall the second episodes still gives me good impression of Shugo Chara, but I feel that many things can be improved.

Amu and her 2 Shugo Chara’s.
