[Summary]
Suzuki admires Hinamori Amu and tries to present a love letter to her, only to be pushed aside by Amu’s classmates, who go up to her and say she’s being cool by refusing the Guardians’ invitation to join them. After school Amu runs into Nadeshiko on her way home and Nadeshiko tries to bribe Amu into joining the Guardians with Hotori’s photos and his profile book. Ran and Miki then brings Amu back from her daydream tells AMu not to be easily bribed by this kind of cheap offer and be insulted. Nadeshiko then asks if Amu wants to join her to visit Hotori the next day and suggest that she makes fruit tarts to score points with Hotori.

So Nadeshiko abuses her authority of being a Guardian and books the whole school kitchen to themselves. As they are preparing the fruit tarts, Nadeshiko leaves the kitchen to get fruits for decoration. This is when Ikuto comes in, with the Green Egg in his hand. Wondering whether if the third egg is the embryo (I will explain that later), he licks and causes Amu to anxiously try to retrieve the egg from him, causing him to fall on her. This is when Nadeshiko comes in and performs Chara Change, which changes her to some scary Yakuza lady swinging her spear around.

While trying to evade Nadeshiko’s attacks, Ikuto accidentally topples the base tart and the filling for the fruit tart. In shock, Miki and Ran panically asks Amu to do a Chara Transformation with either of them to save the tart. This is when the third egg hatches, revealing the third Shugo Chara, Su! Ikuto then makes his escape, leaving Amu in despair. Su then saves the day by doing Chara Change on Amu, giving her great culinary skills, which allows her to make cookies out of the remaining ingredients.

Amu brings the cookie home to wrap them up, but Ran performs Chara Change on Amu and makes her write a love letter dedicated to Hotori. Amu then puts the Shugo Chara off and proceed to prepare her own package of cookies to give to Hotori. Nadeshiko is late and therefore Hotori comes and replace her and receives her to his house. Embarrassed, Amu gives Hotori the package with the love letter by mistake and runs away. After realizing the mistake she made, she decided to go on Mission Impossible to swap the cookie packages. In his room, she was spotted by Kiseki, Hotori’s own Shugo Chara. He explains to her that the embryo is an egg that has the ability to grant any wish.

Hotori then opens the door to find out what the commotion is about, to find Amu in his room holding the fainted Kiseki and letting off a scream. After a short conversation, Amu admires Hotori and calls him prince. This is when Kiseki Chara Change with Hotori to reveal his other side, an ambitious king who wants world dominaiton.

The rest of the Guardians arrive, musing that they have never seen that side of Hotori for a long time. Nadeshiko then explains to Amu that whenever the word, “Prince” is mentioned, Kiseki will Chara Change Hotori to show his future self. Hotori then returns to normal and says that he thinks he is not fit to be in the King’s seat in the Guardians and wished that he would be more brave. This is when Kiseki is born, just like how Ran, Miki and Su appeared when Amu wished to have more courage. After presenting the cookies to Hotori, Yaya says she wants some of it and Hotori says he will share the cookies with everyone.

Back at home, Amu reflects on how she spent the day and Su comment that it is a pity that Amu didn’t give Hotori the cookie package with the love letter. Amu then rants at Su for almost screwing up the day for her and Su flies around screaming at how scary Amu is. The next day in school, Amu is appointed as the 5th Guardian, the joker.

[Impressions]

This episode, with the introduction of yet another two elements and the twist of events that I myself didn’t expect turned out to be something really amazing. I can say that I was blown away by this episode and therefore I think I would really enjoy the upcoming episodes of Shugo Chara! Although I feel pitiful for Suzuki for not being able to express himself to Amu, but I think he will be having a bigger role later. To wrap things up, episode 03 of Shugo Chara is a blast but there’s still room for improvement.
