[Summary]

This episodes shows how Kuroha met Itsuki and joined Astral. Before Kuroha met Itsuki, she has always been alone in the hospital. But now that Itsuki is in the hospital because of his foot injury, she’s not alone anymore. As Itsuki is in the hospital bed, Kuroha tells him about the seven mysteries of the hospital. It is say “that in the hallways of the fourth floor surgical wing a woman crawls across the floors every night.”

Hearing this, Itsuki almost chokes. Honami then shows with documents from work that Itsuki has to read. Honami realizes that another girl is there and asks if she is Itsuki’s friend. Itsuki introduces to Honami that she is his new friend named Manami Kuroha. Honami hands her their business card. Itsuki holds up a paper crane asking if Honami made it. She says that she is practicing while her face is becoming all red.

In an airport, Adilicia is talking to Itsuki on the phone explaining that she is seeing a Reversed Temperance. She tells him to be careful around Kuroha and hangs up. Kuroha standing at the sidelines must have heard the conversation. In the airplane, Adilicia holds up a tarot card which shows a temperance upside down.

Kuroha and Itsuki start talking about Astral. That the mages that are dispatched are called “Rental Magica.” Itsuki’s eye starts hurting and he smells something like burnt rubber. Kuroha identifies that this is one of the seven mysteries of the hospital. When someone smells something like burnt rubber, they will vanished the following day. Honami uses a magic charm to sense something. What she finds is something with symbols on it, but it is not the core.

Over at Astral, Honami is mad at Itsuki for hanging out with another girl. She describes her as a ghost when Mikan asks what is the girl like.

In the third wing, Itsuki is investigating if there really is a woman who crawls on the floors. He get startled by one of Nekoyashiki’s cat, Byakko. Blood red hand prints are showing nearing at Nekoyashiki and Itsuki. Nekoyashiki takes one of his slips of paper with markings to banished it.

Kuroha is waiting for Itsuki to return. She starts hearing strange noises that she goes outside. A freaky monster appears and eats her. Nekoyashiki is explaning to Itsuki that strange events have been happening to this hospital. If the magical pollution increases, then regular humans can see all the things that they are seeing. Honami appears on her broom. She asks Itsuki what Kuroha is to him. On the first day they met, he told Kuroha that he knew she was a ghost. The freaky monster appears and eats up all of them.

Honami and Nekoyashiki use their powers to escape. This monster is remains of a mage that avoided death by transferring himself to another object which is called a Soul Eater. Itsuki doesn’t want them to hurt Kuroha since she is still inside the monster.

He rips off his eyepatch and uses his glam sight telling them where to hit. When Itsuki dodges the attacks of the monster, blood starts running from his right eye. He soon takes out the monster’s core which is its heart and it gets destroy by Honami and Nekoyashiki. Itsuki manages to save Kuroha. The next day, Kuroha is going to see Itsuki for the last time, but learns that she can be apart of Astral. That makes her happy.

[Impression]

I like how they are doing this, having one of the people that works for Astral be the star of the episode. Cause you don’t want an anime that doesn’t explain how they met and what not. Even though it was kinda boring in some cases, but it’s alright. I hope that this anime will pick up the pace and get to see the enemies that appear in the opening. The first episode is the greatest I would say out of these 4 episodes. Next episode is all about Adilicia. I wonder how that will turn out.
