Feel my neko power!!!
Episode 7 marks the arrival of a new character, Kate-san, and her…. unique style of japanese speaking…..
The club president approaches Sora, Hazuki and Natsumi with the intention of introducing a new member of the club, Kate, and tasks Natsumi to help her settle in. It seems Kasugano-sensei in her usual eccentricity specifically wanted Natsumi to do so, saying that Natsumi is “international”. Well, the reason was lost on them. At least until they saw who the new member was.

“We have a new member in the club”

“Hi! My name is Kate!”

-.-”
It turns out that Kate, although being able to converse well in Japanese (in a mangled sort of way…), still has some way to go judging from the way she translates their names…

=.=”"”
Anyone can guess what “Kaneda” is? Lol… (hint: country)
Fortunately, Sora is quick enough to whip out her sketchbook to prevent her name from being mistranslated…

“Whew…My name remains safe…”
Natsumi, on seeing this, decides that it is up to her to educate Kate on the finer points of the Japanese language. However, she encounters obstacles in the form of her eccentric sempais. Tanabe-sempai and Himuro-sempai, in all their random glory, proceeds to fill Kate in with all sorts of random nonsense, which Kate laps up completely, much to Natsumi’s frustration.

“Repeat after me. A…I…U…E…O…KA…KI…KU…KE..KO….”

Teaching an innocent person can be so hard…^^
To counter the “insidious-ness” of her senpais, Natsumi decides to compile a book that corrects all the wrong information Kate is receiving. Though it doesn’t seem to be working out does it….

*scribble*”Haruhi-sama is not an anime character. She is the one true GOD…” *scribble*
In the meantime, Mike (me-kay) meets up with a persian cat and they both try to have a conversation. Turns out cats have many languages too…. Also turns out Haa-san proficient in cat-english too ^^.

“I am international!”
Back in school, the art club organises a welcoming party for Kate…

Japanese cake, courtesy of Tanabe-sempai and Himuro-sempai….. =.=”"”"

Nice party ^^
Turns out Kate can do magic tricks too!

And Kate takes the chance to thank Natsumi for her book.

[Overall Impressions]
Overall an enjoyable episode. Kate is an great addition to the gang. I’d expect to see more of her japanese hijinks as the series goes on. Seeing Kate butcher the language was really amusing. Not much on Sora this time round. And the cats got some more screen time. This series has a very nice and slow pace to it, yet places enough comedic moments to ensure you don’t fall asleep while watching it. Definitely one of my more favorite anime series.
And now for some shots of P-chan torture (the chicken).

“You’ll be the one in this bowl next episode…”

“We want some too!!!”
Btw, can anyone tell me what “buchi” means? I don’t get this joke…..

ぶちは何?
