First post for the New Year and its game news on Street Fighter IV First Gameplay

1up.com has the first footage of SFIV in motion but after discussing with a long time fighting game gamer enthusiast we came to the conclusion that Street Fighter IV has a lot of missing feel of the old Street Fighter games. I do not particularly like the art style, the characters did not transition well into 3d. Perhaps it has to do with a West Dev team helping the JP team thus the art style came to a more American feel…?

According to some sketches of the characters I do not see why it cannot be done retaining the look of the original 2D artstyle even in 3D with the 2D lines. The game play also looks similar to many other fighting games and I do wonder how it will be different besides the art. CAPCOM is trying too hard with this game and it might fail here in asia (maybe, yet to be seen) the West may eat this game up though since there is quite a following there, I do wish some designer with guts at CAPCOM will design a new SF game with new characters, new story and game mechanics instead of just rehashing old stuff.
