[Summary]
A picture from a photo album brings back memories to Adilicia of the first time she met Honami.
Adilicia watches Honami standing on a cliff. She remembers how she first saw Honami. Two boys were bullying her about how she wouldn’t be able to master Celtic Magic for decades. Adilicia focuses back to Honami, but she doesn’t see her. Honami had already walk past her and is heading back to school.
At school, Adilicia challenges the boys who bully Honami. Summoning Forneus, she easily takes them down. Honami already knew that Adilicia would be victorious. Both Honami and Adilicia are at the library. Adilicia interrupts Honami and then getting into an argument. And then Adilicia leaves and is bother by the rude remarks Honami said.
Honami still continues to learn more about Celtic Magic. Under one of her books, she has a picture of both her and Itsuki when they were younger. Magi Night starts where every student has to survive the entire night in an abandoned school with lots of magical pollution inside of it to be recognize as the new students of the academy. Everyone has to have a partner. Honami takes a strip out of the box which written on it is Honami’s name.
In the abandoned school, most of the students are freaking out, but Honami and Adilicia remain calm defeating whoever steps in their path. Adilicia has her mind set on destroying the magical pollution. Honami disagrees and creates a shield around her. A little cute cat walks towards Adilicia, but then grows into a huge tiger. Forneus bites it’s leg and the tiger goes back to the core of the magical pollution.
Following the tiger, Adilicia uses Forneus to desroy the core, but only destroys half of it causing a red night. Everyone is weak and can’t wake up. As for Honami, she dedicates herself that she will do anything for Itsuki. Adilicia is playing into the enemy’s hand until Honami saves her. Honami uses her Celtic magic controlling nature which destroys the core.
The memories have ended. Adilicia, Kuroha, and Itsuki are sitting in Astral’s headquarters. Honami comes in wondering what the talk was all about and figures it out when she sees the picture. Seeing that Honami is in the mood of assigning people a whole bunch of work, Kuroha and Itsuki leave. But then Honami chases after them. They both ask Honami the question of why she wanted to be stronger. She says for Itsuki’s sake, but they didn’t hear her and she runs away from them.

Flashbacks aren’t my thing. I don’t like them because there’s no advancement in the plot. This was another normal Rental Magica episode. No new stuff was mention. I have nothing else to say. Except for, where’s the new enemy?

Actually this is an important ep that both fleshed out Addie’s relations with Honami and solidifies Honami’s love for Itsuki. It also gives background information on Celtic magic and explains why Honami is so sought after in the magic circles. Overall, a solid episode that develops not only characters but the premise.

@Stripey: without watching this episode, i already know most of that. anyone else watching should know too. that’s why i thought this wasn’t important.

You mean you knew that Celtic magic was almost extinct and is a field of magic almost singlehandedly revived by Honami? That Addie and Honami go way back in magic school? Or the extent of Honami’s feelings for Itsuki which not only fueled her groundbreaking study in Celtic magic but sustained her persistence in magic school despite being ostracised?
Frankly I didn’t know all that and am grateful that this ep fleshed out the characters more than ever.

@Stripey: not in that much detail. the relationship between Addie and Honami in the episodes before made it feel that they had some history in the past. And it would be after the incident where Itsuki gain his glam sight. When Eudaiches noted that Honami was perfect, that had to do with her Celtic Magic and she was able to break a barrier made by Eudaiches meaning that Celtic Magic must have been powerful. The feelings that Honami has for Itsuki looks like it could never be broken and she would protect him forever learning more about Celtic magic, so that Itsuki wouldn’t have to use Glam Sight risking his own life.
