It just ran through my mind - How many working days does it take for the Shigofumi to be sent? If someone dies on a saturday, does the letter get processed only on Monday morning?

Alright, so we’re picking off from where the last episode left off. I’m still sticking by my idea that the series will (1) Have Fumika has the centre (2) while having various characters and stories go by. On with the episode!

I take back what I said about Kanaka last review. She fits Fumika’s reserved and quiet nature to a T with her “hyper-ness” and has shown that she it is not above being considerate or sensitive to others. Also, I find it kinda cool that Kanaka has all sorts of cool powers. Imagine the wonderful things I can do if I could go invisible like that Heh heh…

Hmm, I did make a guess that it had something to do with the words “rape”. I believe “camera rape” is equivalent in some sense. +1 to Asuna
Well, the last straw came when he causually mentioned to Asuna that he recieved a request for Asuna’s little sister Miku to do a job. Asuna goes yandere and the rest is history.

The train scene was rather well drawn, I liked the various perspectives and especially the one above. It also shows the mannerisms in which Fumika deals with mail recepients as well as Asuna’s state of mind.
Phrase of the episode: “You have nothing to fear from criminals who have something to gain from blood or money. The most fearsome ones are those that are pure hearted.”
I think that was a really interesting phrase, well translated version there in nutcase’s quote. However, where’s the link? In the end, Asuna was really just trying to get by with her sister, I believe that her second murder was solely in defence without proper thinking (yandere over logic).

True to Shouta’s character, Shouta’s shigofumi to Asuna was completely devoid of malice or anger. Instead, he apologised to her for not noticing her problems. Watching Fumika break out her semi-auto to deliver it was nice too ^^. Asuna, on reading it, immediately runs to go and launch that rocket that Shouta had built.

Beautiful, a home-made rocket launching successfully and piercing the sky (and heavens, not shown here). As I watched this scene and noticed the bold, blue “Shouta” written on the rocket’s fuselage by Asuna, I noticed the unfolding of possible plot catalsyts - the Shigofumi itself. In said letter (refer to above comment by nutcase), Shouta made use of the Shigofumi to potray care and concern; warm-hearted feelings for Asuna’s conditions. Compared to Asuna’s father’s Shigofumi, this was a controversial opposite really, thus making me wonder if there’s gonna be alot more unfolding of such contrasting Shigofumi in future episodes.
What I find saddening is that in Asuna’s attempt to launch the rocket, she flicked out her blade to cut off the tarp that got in the way, only to get shot by a ball-less wimp of a policeman who thought she was attacking his superior. While she had stopped at least 15 * * * * * * meters away. I hope he loses his job.

A change of heart here, Fumika doesn’t quote her usual explanation for a Shigofumi as a “letter from the dead” in short, but instead explains it as the “most beautiful words” to Asuna’s sister.
Looks like Hiyuu was right about how this show is going to go. Fumika will be the mainstay as we watch her deliver her letters to various people, of which each group will take a few episodes.
Reviewer’s note on the OP sequence
Come to think of it, the OP theme is by Ali Project which has also done a song for Rozen Maiden. I must say it fits the theme quite well.
I personally do not like listening to Ali Project, but I agree that this OP sequence really goes well with the song. Currently, I’m hooked on the H2O OP tho… More about that in the H2O reviews!
