Kyou-sama, you’re too good for Tomoya..
I didn’t think that Clannad can get any better after last week’s episode, but it did. This is the best episode so far. Despite being the best, it does has it’s ups and downs. This episode shows a side of Tomoyo that we never knew before and Kyou-sama made this episode a truly emotional one…

He seems..nice…

But Tomoya doesn’t think so..
We know that Tomoya hates his father since the beginning of Clannad. His father is the cause for Tomoya’s arm injury that made him unable to play basketball well. Tomoya also fights a lot with his father in the past. But I don’t think that’s a good enough reason for Tomoya to treat his father the way he does now. I feel so sad seeing Tomoya’s father in this scene. I hope that we can get a good explanation why Tomoya hates his father so much in the upcoming episodes. And hope that the problem will be solved.

You never fail to entertain me, Sunohara
One of the best thing about Clannad is Sunohara’s jokes. His jokes are always funny (to me). Most of his jokes comes from Tomoya. For example, this episode shows Sunohara getting a beat up by the a rugby member for wearing an underway on his head (Tomoya is the cause). Although he is beaten up too often, it’s still fun to watch.

Kyou and Ryou visited Tomoya and took him to the arcade. They played a fortune-telling game that measures the relationship between 2 people. And Ryou gets to play it with Tomoya. Here we can see that Kyou is getting jealous over her sister. If so, Kyou should take Tomoya for herself. I mean, she has more chances on getting Tomoya compare to her sister. She tries harder and she clearly likes Tomoya more than her sister does.
When the word ‘Friends’ came out, Kyou got angry and blamed Tomoya for it. Ryou is satisfied with the result though. I was hoping that Kyou gets to play the game with Tomoya after that. But, it didn’t happen…
What will be the result of Tomoya and Kyou… Friends? Lovers? Married? or something else…

Everyone visited Tomoya the next day (aside from Nagisa). All of them brought some food for Tomoya and they ended up having too many food and Tomoya isn’t happy about it. I saw scenes like this in many anime and the result is the same too. But Clannad does it better. Look at the bright side, at least the girls look cute in casual clothing, especially Kyou-sama.

Finally, I can see a girl vs girl fight in Clannad and both of them are my top 2 favorite characters in the anime too. As we know, KyoAni is tying Kyou/Ryou’s arc and Tomoyo’s arc together so that’s why I want the fight to happen. They were fighting about whose food should Tomoya eat. Even Ryou and Kotomi participated. And..

****
Seriously, the ‘Fuuko randomly showing up thing’ is getting old. I was hoping for a good fight between Kyou and Tomoyo but thanks to Fuuko, it didn’t happen. If KyoAni wants Fuuko to make an appearance, at least make it a proper one and not just randomly showing up when things are getting interesting. Or she should die already…

Who would dare to do such a thing…
Who the **** did that!?, that’s what I’ll say if I was Tomoya. This makes it harder for Tomoyo to win the election. So she gain the trusts of the students by playing sports such as baseball. She is good in any sports isn’t she…

Tomoyo’s story is interesting. The story about her past, her brother and her parents are well done. Her parents didn’t get along well and planned to get a divorce in the past. And who would have known that such a sweet girl like Tomoyo was a bad girl before. It was Tomoyo’s brother attempt at suicide that got the family back together.

Guess who’s back…
Nagisa is back. As we can see here, Tomoya is blushing around Nagisa. He blushed around Nagisa before but this is different because he blushed just because Nagisa talked to him. And Tomoya isn’t the shy type either…

Unlike before, I can see that Tomoya and Nagisa look like a couple rather than just friends. This scene shows why. It seems that Nagisa’s absence made Tomoya realized his feelings towards her. He always thinks of Nagisa when he is alone. Now he is not alone anymore… So don’t think of Nagisa anymore.. Ok Tomoya?

Now even Tomoyo knows it. She gave up on Tomoya when she saw how close Tomoya and Nagisa is. She accepted that fact ‘calmly’ and didn’t get a fight with Nagisa. I’m saying that because I want Nagisa to be punched/kicked Tomoyo. But KyoAni wouldn’t do that to an innocent girl like Nagisa..
By the way, I don’t hate Nagisa at all..

**** off you ****!
Here is another proof that Tomoya likes Nagisa. Everyone (especially Kyou, Ryou, and Kotomi) knows that Tomoya is being overprotective in this scene. Well, it’s not called ‘overprotective’ if you love that person…
In other animes, I call scenes like this as a ‘cheesy scene’. It’s different for Clannad though… Maybe because Clannad delivers it better…

Poor Kyou…
Poor Kyou is crying over the fact that Tomoya likes Nagisa. She tries to laugh it off at first but she wasn’t able to do so. Right after Ryou said “gomen ne”, she cried and Ryou cried too. A sad Kyou makes me sad too. But I can’t blame it on Tomoya because he already has Nagisa and Kyou/Ryou didn’t confess to him properly. I can’t blame it on Kyou either because she can’t confess to Tomoya because she wants to support Ryou on getting Tomoya . Ryou…is she the one to blame?

A sad Kyou makes me sad too…
![]()
A dramatic episode ending with a sad scene. This epic episode is mostly contributed by Kyou and Tomoyo. Tomoyo’s story is a very good one. Unlike Fuuko’s and Kotomi’s story, this one is real. It is possible for a person to attempt a suicide in that condition and bringing the family together as a result is truly epic. But it is impossible for a person to come out of their dreams and it is impossible for a bag to travel the whole world (possible but have you ever heard of one?).
The food scene is hilarious. Everyone is trying to get Tomoya to eat the food they made. Especially Kyou and Tomoyo who is trying hard and even argued over it. But the tension was killed by Fuuko. The ‘Fuuko randomly showing up when things are getting interesting thing’ is not cute at all, just very annoying. Yea, why won’t she die already…
Kyou in this episode made me very emotional especially at the end. Unlike Fuuko, Kotomi, and Tomoyo, she doesn’t have a past to tell. The fact that she tried so hard to help her sister on getting Tomoya but gave up in the end was truly emotional. I think that Kyou loves Tomoya more than her sister does. But why does she insist on helping her sister. Ryou isn’t even trying to hit on Tomoya and it is imposible without Kyou. Kyou deserves Tomoya way more than her sister does. So..why?
Looks like this episode marks the end of the Kyou/Ryou and Tomoyo arcs. KyoAni ended it at the same time which I don’t think it is bad at all. I love Kyou and Tomoyo very much so I hope that both of them still get screentime (hopefully a lot) in the upcoming episodes.
Side Note: I changed my blogging style and I like this style better than the one I did before. It focuses more on my thoughts and impressions rather than just summaries. It still took me a lot of time (even longer) to write this post. But I like it so I don’t mind. I need to do better though..

in my opinion, 2 words sum up CLANNAD 18.
Too…..Fast….
the story was going at such breakneck speed the sad part didn’t really strike a chord with me. Unlike with the Fuuko build up that actually made me cry.
Kotomi is win with her air-headed answer to Tomoya’s cry for help. ^^

This format is better because, once we’ve read one summary, we’ve read them all, and I usually just scroll to everyone’s Impressions sections. If the whole post is an Impression, well I’ll read the whole thing. :3
I agree it’s more fun both to write and to read. And you kinda inherently summarize the episode as you go anyway.

well still…Fuuko doesn’t deserve to die :(

judging how the series is going now, its apparent that nagisa’s arc is coming up. but i still don’t like on they combined kyou and tomoyo’s arc together. it seemed too fast.
on a different note i liked the way how you summarized and did your impressions at the same time. very entertaining to read, while trying to get a glimpse of the episode as well.
