Wal-Mart, the largest retail chain in the world, has announced that it “will offer only Blu-ray [Disc] movies and hardware machines, as well as standard definition movies and DVD players, and up converts.” It will begin phasing out HD DVD, Blu-ray’s high-definition disc format competitor, in less than 30 days and finish by June.

Earlier, Japanese broadcaster NHK broke the news that Toshiba decided to cancel the development of further HD DVD technologies, but to manufacture current HD DVD players for some time. A production plant in northern Japan is already confirmed to be shut down

Hopefully the BR-D movies prices will go down as I want to watch some anime movies like paprika BD on my PS3. But more importantly I want sony to bring Down the prices of those BD-RW drives on the PC, imagine burning a few anime series (not episodes) on a single disc
