Ha.
IE8 Is finally something almost resembling “standards-compliant,” and yet it still won’t render valid code properly unless each and every website inserts an IE8-specific tag telling it to adhere to the proper standards. Most web developers probably won’t bother, relying on the same time-tested hacks so that older versions of IE don’t mangle them up.
While Explorer has certainly come a long way in just a few years since Microsoft stopped deliberately dragging their heels, it’s still got a long way to go to catch up with the likes of Firefox, Safari, and Opera.

Opera anyone? anyhow I myself think it may be time to look at apple hardware as an alternative to Microsoft to settle my general computing needs

IE8 looks promising, but the default standards-compliant mode has been said to be significantly slower than it’s IE7-emulation mode. There are also lots of things IE8 doesn’t support yet and needs, such as a brand new download manager, but since it’s a beta, I don’t expect any of these features to be implemented.
The WebSlices features are nice and bring some potential into this browser otherwise “meh” browser. Despite passing the Acid2 test, IE8 still doesn’t render pages entirely correctly, but hey, at least they’re trying.
