What will you be watching this coming spring?

 

The Winter Season is nearing it’s end and the Spring Season is coming soon. I can see that there are animes that interests me in the upcoming season. There were good animes in the Winter Season (especially True Tears) and hopefully that the Spring Season will have some too.

As the Winter season is slowly drawing to a close, Spring 08 brings with it quite a few interesting series. Among them is the much awaited (for me) Code Geass. With so many titles coming out, which are the shows you are interested in and will watch? Sesukyie and I will list here the shows (not all the shows in Spring 08) that caught our attention and what we feel about them. Enjoy.

 

 

Vampire Knight

 

Cool. The character looks cool and the plot is also interesting. It is also a ’shoujo’ type anime which is my favorite genre. The 2 main characters will be voiced by Miyano Mamoru and Horie Yui an both of them are one of my favorite seiyuus. I hope that this anime will not be as bad as the other ‘vampire’ anime (referring to Rosario + Vampire). Lol…

My exposure to the shoujo genre is limited since I am more attracted to the seinen and shounen genre. However, that is not to say I shun them completely. My most memorable anime of the shoujo genre would be Ouran High School Host Club which remains one of my favourites. It looks interesting. I’ll give it a try.

D.C. II S.S.~Da Capo II Second Season~

I watched Da Capo 1 and Da Capo 2 so I might as well watch this one. I don’t really like the anime that much but after watching so many episodes of the anime, I have grown to like the anime. Other reasons? I still don’t know.. Well, we’ll see…

Never watched Da Capo 1. Never watched Da Capo 2. Sure ain’t watching this one. Heard from others it wasn’t very good though.

S-A ~Special-A~

Definitely going to watch this. The 2 main characters are competing with each other in everything, I like it. The characters are in an ultra elite school, which reminds me of Ouran High School Host Club (one of the best anime ever) and hopefully that this anime will be as good as Ouran. I wonder if there are any love between the 2 main characters. Of course there is… It’s a shoujo anime..

Again, I don’t have much experience with this genre. The animation looks nice so I guess I’ll give it a shot. You really like shoujo don’t you Setsukyie?

Itazura na Kiss

A guy and a girl lives together in a house and the girl likes the guy and the guy hates girls, who doesn’t like this type of anime? But they are accompanied by their parents of course (lol). I love the fact that the story spans over 10 years, lots of things will happen in the 10 years living together.

Makes you wonder. If the guy hates girls, how did she get in his house anyway? If the drama is good like say REC or Ef – A Tale of Memories, then I’m sold. I’ll give it a shot as well.

Code Geass R2

Hmm.. I never was a fan of mecha animes since I never watched one.. Even though people are saying that this anime is great and all, but I’m not watching it..

 

This is one great series I’m sure to follow. I still remember that damn cliffhanger they dropped on us first season. Was damn close to throttling the guy sitting beside me though it wasn’t any fault of his. I realise there are some people out there who dislike mecha series. But Code Geass focuses not on the mecha but the pilots which makes for more character and plot development than bigger and badder mecha. Top of my list in Spring 08 this is.

xxxHOLIC Season 2

Well, I didn’t get the chance to watch the 1st season because of the lack of time. I might watch the 1st season later and if it is good enough, I will watch the 2nd one.

 

Read the manga, watched the first season and watched the movie. I enjoy CLAMP works and some of those I watched are Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Chronicles and Magic Knights Rayearth. Love how it intertwines with Tsubasa Chronicles and love the theme of the series. It is fate/destiny/inevitable that I will watch this.

Soul Eater

Read some of the manga and the story was interesting. I think it falls under your typical shounen so you can expect the main characters to get beaten up, then come right back with some bad ass attack. Not to mention it is done by BONES which did a good job with Eureka Seven.

Shounen anime + Shinigami..is this another Bleach? Just like what Nutcase mentioned, the main characters will get beaten up, then come right back with some bad ass attack. Shounen anime isn’t really my type but I will give this one a try.

Toshokan Sensou

Library war.. I don’t really understand the plot so I might watch a few episodes of this anime to see what it’s all about..

 

I like the idea of the “Information Warfare” concept. It seems to be about the librarians fighting the Government to prevent it from controlling information. As long as this stays in the political or mind-games genre (like Death Note for example) I’ll take it. Although it looks like real combat is involved since I see pics with guns and guys in uniform. Oh well, we’ll see.

Blassreiter

Another shounen type anime for the season. But unlike Soul Eater, I’m not interested in this anime at all. So this is a no…

 

The website trailer looks cool with all the high tech stuff. I’m a sucker for those. I’ll give it a shot.

RD Senno Chosashitsu

A sort of cyber anime that is set in the future. That description alone made me not wanting to watch the anime. The only futuristic game/anime that I like is Star Ocean. So..it depends…

 

Like I said, I’m a sucker for the high tech stuff. The concept is very “The Matrix”-like. It sounds interesting as I have watched similiar genre shows like Dennou Coil and Baldr Force EXE. Definitely worth a shot.

BUS GAMER

I don’t like animes that involves ‘games’ and things like this because I’m not a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh. But I will be watching this because it is only 3 episodes long.

 

I find that sometimes short episode series can provide more entertainment than longer series. With a short time frame, the action and pace is often fast and can draw you in very well. Shows like Baldr Force EXE and Phantom the Animation are a few short anime that I’ve watched and liked.
