He’s 10 and he’s dead. That is the fate of a boy who imitates Naruto by burying himself in a sandbox headfirst, assumingly to recreate the attacks used by the fictional ninja from the Naruto anime’s fictional Village Hidden in the Sand.
Porter had been resuscitated with CPR and taken to an Everett hospital and later transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Seattle where he died.

This isn’t exactly newsworthy. Back then when TMNT was popular, kids in America go missing in underground sewers trying to look for Ninja Turtles.
Look at it this way; I am sure children once upon a time might have attempted to run away from home and ended up drowning in a river somewhere because they read Huckleberry Finn.
This is just the typical result of parents not teaching their children common sense. Kids do silly things by default; it is the parent’s job to make sure they live to learn from them.

It’s really just an accident. Sure you can point fingers, but…
Sad tale.

There’s really nothing much can be done about these kinds of incidents. It has happened years ago, is still happening now, and would probably continue to happen in the future. I still remember hearing news of kids jumping out of house/apartment/condo windows thinking they would be able to fly like Superman.
The best thing for parents to do is to keep a watch on their kids without restricting them too much. And that is of course, easier said than done.

Ok, before you go blasting this poor kid, remember, he’s DEAD. Have you no soul or heart in your body? It’s his parents’ fault, for 1: letting a 10 year old actually watch Naruto and 2: not watching him and his brothers and friends. The local police around there need to get CPS and take their other kids because it is painfully obvious that they shouldn’t have had children in the first place. They also need to check up on the other two parents’ parenting skills.
