More emo emo this episode as Hirose gets depressed over his dead mother.

Continuing where we left off last episode, Hayami is saved from Yui’s goons by none other than Yui herself. Hayami however, still upset from Hirose’s betrayal, brushes her off and stumbles away. Only to bump once again into Hirose on the road.

Not only do Hirose’s attempts to apologise to Hayami get brushed off, he instead falls victim to Hayami’s goading and degenerates into whacking Hayami in his mindless anguish over his dead mother. Here is where we find out the part of the beating Hayami suffered in episode 1 actually came from this damn bastard himself. And he has the balls to faint after knocking Hayami out.

H2O brings abuse to a whole new level
However, here comes the real shocker. Hirose never could see to begin with!
*Insert all sorts of OMGWTFBBQ lines*

You mean it was all a dream?
While we had assumed that Otoha had given back Hirose’s sight, in reality, what Otoha had given him is a sort of “mind’s eye”, thus allowing him to “see” even though he is blind. As such, it is not surprising no one mentioned a thing about Hirose suddenly being able to “see” since everyone was working under the impression he never could. And just to point two things here before hand. One, blind people can navigate places they are familiar with without the aid of a walking stick. Two, lol anime logic.
While Hirose is incapacitated by depression and his sudden “loss” of sight, the old man strikes while the metal is hot, and uses Hirose’s condition to force Hayami to leave the village.

Which she does, in the middle of the night, to avoid any trouble.

Oh sure… cry for her now…
And right into the old man’s trap.

Oh noes! Not Hayami!
Hirose, still mired in his depression over the loss of his mother, his sight and now the loss of Hayami as well, somehow manages to stumble his way to Hayami and save her. While screaming he’ll protect his mother… O_o

For a person who can’t see, Hirose is quite good >_>
[Overall Impressions]

Yeah, you know you deserved that
Okay, my opinion of Hirose has sunk to a new low. *rants about Hirose being a $#^$&^(&^)*&*&%#*
Ehm. So, it looks like Hirose’s trauma goes pretty deep. And judging from what Otoha says, he will not regain his sight unless he learns to accept what has happened and moves on. Good luck to Hayami who will no doubt try. My heart goes out to the poor girl.

“Heh”
On the other hand, the old man shows what a sly devil he is as his plan slowly takes shape. Bumping Hayami off in the forest with the excuse that she was kicked out of the village is a good tactic that will leave no one guessing the truth. While the village might hate Hayami, they clearly have no stomach for murder. This is a personal agenda for the old man.
Next and last episode is [H2O]. Looks like a happy ending to me. Then again, I could be wrong.
