The final episode and a beautiful conclusion…
[Summary]
And the fallout begins as the consequences of Fumi-chan’s and Mika-chan’s actions begin to show.

Fumi-chan continues to press charges upon Kirameki and the media goes into a frenzy, stalking Fumi-chan as well as harassing Natsuka’s family. Fumi-chan re-attends school but becomes the center of attention for all the students in the school.

Interestingly, Fumi-chan attends the same school as Kaname. I find this strange as she was in a coma for 3 years, which from my knowledge of the japanese school system pretty much means there is no way she can be in the same school as Kaname who is now 3 yrs her senior unless she jumped grades. Anyway…
Chiaki becomes depressed that her efforts were futile. Kanaka gets reassigned to new postal workers but none of them work out since she screws up her orders without Fumi-chan.

Natsuka, suspecting Fumi-chan did something on the hill, is upset with Kaname’s focus upon Fumi-chan and confesses to him. Not that he was moved.

As in the preview, Fumi-chan’s mother arrives to meet Fumi-chan, arranged by Nojima-san. She is shocked, however, when her mother wanted no responsibility of her. This leaves Fumi-chan in a situation where she can not return to either parent. In her despair, she runs off.

She runs to Kirameki’s house where she attempts to commit suicide, only to be stopped by Mika-chan who is apparently not gone yet.

After getting slapped around by Mika-chan, an argument soon ensues with Mika-chan accusing Fumi-chan of always running away from conflicts and Fumi-chan countering that Mika-chan never gives her a chance to gather up the courage to do things herself. Fumi-chan also asserts that despite Mika-chan claiming that she was helping her, in reality, Mika-chan really wanted to live her own life.

They soon realise that while in the past, they were two separate people trying to live their own lives through one body, they are now separate and free to pursue their individual lives. Mika-chan also realises that she didn’t want to disappear and lose all her friends afterall.
Thus, they breakdown and cry together in their first proper reunion, much to the surprise of Natsuka and Kaname who had been searching for them.

A Happy Reunion
[Overall Impressions]

Cute in its own way…
Yay for happy ending.
Watching Mika-chan open up slowly with the help her friends has been enjoyable. Kanaka, despite whatever I had against her previously, has grown to be a very likable character who makes the perfect partner to Fumi-chan.
The pacing was good with the first few episodes giving us a rough idea how the Shigofumi world worked and the remainder laying out the main story, with a nice break in the middle.
I suppose one possible gripe about the show would be the dreary colour scheme, even though it pretty much fits the theme of the series.
The ending credits brought us some scenes of the lives of all the other characters who have have appeared throughout the show. I laughed when I saw that the policeman who shot Ayase in episode 2 become a monk to repent for his sins.
All in all a very nice finish.
It has been an enjoyable series throughout. It may not be a super hit, but this is a show I feel is worth watching.
