What is Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (Singapore) ?

The (Singapore) Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) is a newly founded association for Singaporean gamers and cyberathletes.
I was surprised about this newly formed community as well when someone I knew online told me about it. They have their mission statement - “Develop local gaming communities, through education, and achieve international success for Singapore in competitive gaming”

Wow!!! I am stunned!!!
Cybergaming is sg? I doubt it is going to work…
It will probably be a very small subculture here.
Hi there, thanks for your interest in SCOGA!
SCOGA is newly founded by some gaming community leaders and enthusiasts in the Singapore gaming and eSports scene. Although ‘for gamers by gamers’, we now have parents, doctors, lecturers joining our cause as well.
The online gaming scene in Singapore is well and alive with independent and respected research firm IDC estimating more than 1million online gamers in Singapore. These numbers also correlate quite closely to other reports we’ve gathered separately.
With eSports as forerunner for gaming in line with the global trend, SCOGA has engaged quite a number of organisations to support our cause.
Our partners will be unveiled in due course as we prepare for some major upcoming events in the next 3-12 months.
Thanks again for your support as we strive to get eSports accredited by the Singapore government!
Best regards,
Nicholas
