    Ikkitousen Great Guardians

    Trailer: Here
    Air Date: 11 June
    Website: http://www.ikkitousen.com/top.html

Summary (Season 1): Seven schools are constantly ‘at war’ with each other, and the students within - both male and female - have become skilled fighters and constantly battle with rival schools. Their lives and fates are guided by strange jewels that contain the spirits and destinies of warriors from the Sangokushi period. One girl, Sonsaku Hakufu, has recently moved to Japan and is apparently destined to unite the schools as her counterpart united seven countries long ago. But, like all heroes, there is a darker side to her fate, and as always there is a constant struggle by those around her to break the chains of their own destinies and make their own lives.

    Source: ANN

Watched the first episode and gave up halfway through second. Even now I still look back and wonder why I had wasted my life like that. Unless you like fanservice and clothes that rip easier than tissue paper, don’t even come near this.

A 3rd season..huh. Never watched the 1st and 2nd one and never will, so I’m not watching this one either. It has a weird plot. Also, it’s a fanservice show, so, just no…

Umm Let’s see Big Boobed girls fighting each other. Sounds great to me unfortunately I haven’t gotten around to the first two seasons yet so I will be holding off on this for now.

    Telepathy Shoujo Ran

    Trailer: Here
    Air Date: 21 June
    Website: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/anime/ran/

Summary: Ran is a bright and energetic first-grader in junior high school who possesses supernatual abilities. Together with Midori (her friend who also has supernatural powers) and Rui, the threesome are constantly embroiled in mysterious circumstances. Ran is troubled by her powers because it seems to spark off the ill intentions of people in contact with her. However, with the support of her family and peers, Ran learns to deal with her ‘other’ side and accepts who she is. The threesome also learn how to team up as a whole and solve these mysterious events.

    Source: ANN

The trailer looks good. The long haired girl looks like Natsuki Kuga from Mai-HIME.

Well, I love the mystery, supernatural, and almost everything else in this anime. But there is 1 thing that I don’t like, it’s the character design, but that is bearable. The anime is animated by the same company that does Itazura na Kiss. Itazura na Kiss does have good romance in it, so i want this anime to have romance too, and perhaps comedy. This anime does have a good line of seiyuus. So, I will watch this.

Looks cute but not really sure I follow what it is really about. I would say it is a show I will watch to just to give it a chance. Could be good.

    Ultraviolet

    Trailer: Here
    Air Date: 1st July
    Website: http://uvcode044.jp/

Summary: Main character “044″ is a female warrior who is genetically engineered with high combat skills and ordered by the government to annihilate a vampire army.

Essentially an anime adaptation of the movie

    Source: AniDB

I have watched the movie. I liked the special effects they threw in it but I can’t say much about the plot. If the show has any decent combat scenes I’ll watch it. Her face looks fail to me though but that’s me.

Just looking at the title makes me not interested in it. Also, it’s an adaptation of a Hollywood movie, which I never heard of before so I can assume that it failed. Not watching this.

Never bothered with the movie as it looked stupid as crap. I think it is safe to say that this is going to be just as stupid.

    Slayers REVOLUTION

    Trailer: Here
    Air Date: 2nd July
    Website: http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/slayers_revolution/

Summary: Season 4. The story takes place at the time when Lina and Gourry start a new journey to look for Gourry’s new sword with the power of magic.

    Source: Moetron

Never watched season 1. Never watched season 2. Never watched season 3 either. Anyone see a pattern? My only memory of this show is the orange haired girl above screaming “FIREBALL”.

I don’t know about this one. I’ve been hearing good things about this anime. But I never watched any of the previous seasons, so not gonna watch this. Even if it’s by J.C. Staff and it airs on my birthday…

Um is a new Slayers show. For some reason I have never gotten around to watching the earlier shows so I am not sure if I will watch this or go Back and check out the older stuff first.

Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~

    Trailer: Couldn’t find one
    Air Date: 2nd July
    Website: http://www.sora-mahou.com/

Summary (Season 1): The story is set in present day Tokyo. Much of the setting is based upon real areas, the more obvious ones being the Shibuya Crossing and Tokyo Tower. In Tokyo is the Bureau of Magic, which employs Mage Labour for certain special requests by everyday people. However, the mages must only use their magic with special permission, and any unlicensed use results in a penalty. In order to train as a magic user, Yume Kikuchi travels to Tokyo during her summer break to apprentice under the charming Masami Oyamada. The story is very peaceful and tells of Yume’s trials and tribulations as she works toward her eventual graduation as a full-fledged magic user licensed by the Bureau of Magic.

Mmmm…. Slice of life show. Love those. Running through Season 1 as I type and I like what I see. Will watch.

This one doesn’t seem to be focusing on the plot much. Thus, I consider this to be a slice-of-life and a slow anime. Not my cup of tea. And this one is a sequel as well, just like most of the shows this season. I don’t think I’ll be watching this.

A new series that is a sequel to Someday’s Dreamers which I haven’t gotten to watch yet. But this season comes from the same peeps that did Aria and Sketchbook so I would have to say this is guaranteed to be something quite enjoyable and something I would have to say is up there on my to watch list.

    Strike Witches

    Trailer: Here
    Air Date: 3rd July
    Website: http://s-witch.cute.or.jp/

Summary: It is about a group of witches who use airplane boots to travel about instead of brooms and work as arial fighters.

    Source: ANN

Girls with strap on rocket boots and animal ears when they suit up? I must say this one has me surprised. Looks like a fanservice show though maybe not the ecchi kind. Give me Sky Girls any day man. The idea is interesting (or ridiculous) so I’ll check it out just to see what it’s like.

Gonzo = Bad. Well, I haven’t seen any good Gonzo shows lately. The only Gonzo shows that I like are Welcome To The N.H.K. and Seto no Hanayome. I don’t like the plot anyway. Nope.

Let’s see a series revolving around little Moe Mecha-Girls flying around fighting. I have to say that this is basically a show tailor made for my viewing. Hehehe.

    Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu

    Trailer: Couldn’t find one
    Air Date: 3rd July
    Website: http://www.nogizaka-haruka.com/

Summary: Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu centers around Yūto Ayase and Haruka Nogizaka. Yūto is seemingly ordinary, but Haruka is attractive, intelligent, and rich, which prompts other students to idolize her and even give her French nicknames like “Nuit Étoile” (The Silver Star of the Night) and “Lumière du Clavier” (The Shining Princess on the Piano). One day, Yūto wanders into the school library in order to return a book and accidentally stumbles upon Haruka’s deepest, darkest secret: she is a diehard fan of anime and manga, in other words, a regular otaku. Promising Haruka to keep this a secret, Yūto becomes her advisor and confidente of some sort and hangs out with her more, though earning some viciously envious glares from his fellow schoolmates.

    Source: ANN

Attractive? Intelligent? Rich? AND a closet otaku? I smell Ana-Coppola-tries-to-hide-Japanese-speaking-ability win. This looks like an interesting rom com I can get into. I’ll sure as hell be there to watch it.

FINALLY!! YES, FINALLY!!! An anime that I’m really looking forward to. Attractive + Intelligent + Rich + School Idol + OTAKU = Pure WIN. In other words, Haruka is a girl that EVERY otaku likes (male otaku btw), and she is like the 2nd Nagi-ojosama, who I really like. A boy is keeping her secret and they hang out together, mostly at otaku places, sounds like romance to me. Also, their schoolmates is jealous of him, sounds like comedy to me. Put both of them together and you will get an anime that I really enjoy. DEFINITELY WATCHING THIS!! OVER 9000!!!

I don’t know I just can’t think of anything to say on this one. Just that I will check it out.

Once there, she starts making new friends like her classmate Miyako and the second year students, Hiro and Sae. Surrounded by good friends, Yuno starts moving towards her dream of being an artist.

    Source: ANN

YES!!! IT IS FINALLY HERE!!! NUTBLADDERS!!! (go google it if you don’t get it) Yeah, I must be a sucker for Slice of Life shows since I watch Lucky Star, Hidamari Sketch, Manabi Straight, Sketchbook, Azumanga Daioh, Genshiken etc etc…

Never had a chance to watch the 1st one. It looks too moe to me. No, I don’t hate moe at all, but if this anime relies too much on moe, I won’t watch it. It’s a slice-of-life anime, which means there is not much plot. Not a fan of it but I don’t hate it either. Maybe I will watch this and maybe I won’t. But I’m sure that nutcase23 will watch it.^^

I haven’t watched season one yet and Since Nutcase seems to praise it so much it has moved pretty High on my list of things to get watched so I think I will go ahead and watch that and move right onto this one.
    .

    Koihime Musou

    Trailer: Here (Game OP)
    Air Date: 3rd July
    Website: http://www.mmv.co.jp/special/koihime/

    Adaptation of the BaseSon eroge.

Koihime†Musō re-imagines the classic Chinese historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms in action/love comedy form with a nearly all-female cast. The game itself featured upwards of 30 female characters.

    Source: AniDB

Hmmm show from eroge. I couldn’t find a trailer so I can’t say much about the anime. It does look like fanservice but if there’s cool fightning scenes, again I’m sold. Just as long it doesn’t go the Ikkitousen way…

I don’t know about Romance of the Three Kingdoms and I don’t know what this anime is about. Some people say that it’s a ‘fanservice’ show. Since I have issues with fanservice, I won’t be watching this.

Let me see is some kind of love comedy adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Only all the characters have been changed into crazy cute girls….. This is friggin genius and a must watch.
    .

    Tetsuwan Birdy Decode

    Trailer: Couldn’t find one
    Air Date: 5th July
    Website: http://www.birdy-tv.com/

Tsutomu goes out for some fresh air, after a hard day’s work studying for a big test, when he runs into a guy fleeing from a pretty young lady. The pursued man is actually an interplanetary criminal on the run from a Federation agent called Birdy Cephon Altera. Caught in the midst of this chase, Tsutomu gets thrown by the man at Birdy, which kills Tsutomu. Fortunately for Tsutomu, there is a way to keep him alive, although it comes at the price of discarding his body. He ends up merged into Birdy’s body.

So Tsutomu is stuck sharing a body with a rather attractive, yet very strong but impulsive, space police agent, while trying to keep his apathetic family and more importantly, his girlfriend, from finding out about his woman problems. In the meantime, to make matters worse, Birdy still has to do her job. Together, they take on a rather secretive group of evil aliens planning to perform maniacal experiments on the unsuspecting inhabitants of Tokyo.

    Source: Wikipedia

Erm… I think I’ll pass thanks. Though it says Comedy and Sci-fi I get this nagging feeling…

The title says it all. Why would I watch an anime with a plot like this. Also, it looks like a fanservice show, which is a no for me.

I gotta say this is one of those more bizarre shows coming this season but I have a tendency to enjoy the bizarre so this is a must watch for me. I mean a guy whose gets merged into the body of a bad ass chick. Sounds fun to me.
    .

    Sekirei

    Trailer: Here and Here
    Air Date: 5th July
    Website: http://www.sekirei-tv.com/

The Girl, Musubi was not any ordinary girl she was a “Sekirei”, and suddenly she just bestows Minato with the power of an Ashikabi, one of a mysterious set of “masters” in an awesome battle royale between hordes of cute girls (and males) with individual special powers called “Sekirei’s”. Eventually Minato’s true capabilities will release his useless self into truly understanding all of the Sekirei’s that he embarks to gather, and his own strength.

    Source: ANN

I read up abit on the manga sometime back before I found out they were making an anime of it. The story looks interesting with the usual fanservice moments. By the trailer however, the show looks like uber fanservice along the lines of Rosario Vampire (pantsu anyone?). I’ll still watch it first to see how it is (and for the loli ^^) but if it even looks RV’s way I’m dropping it fast.

It’s a fanservice show..again. The plot is bad. Also, you probably will get all the usual bad things that you get from most fanservice focused shows. Unless if you like this kind of thing.

Here we go one of the few shows of the season I actually want to watch. I am up to date with the Manga and love it. It isn’t anything really amazing but a ton of fun. A harem of big boobed chicks running around fighting. What is there not to like? Is a Must watch from me.

    Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiki Jikenbo

    Trailer: Couldn’t find one
    Air Date: 5th July
    Website: http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/yakushijiryouko/ (annoying BGM alert!)

    Summary:
The story revolves around Ryouko Yakushiji, a 27-year-old multilingual investigator that graduated from Tokyo University’s elite Department of Law, and the bizarre cases she faces while working for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Yakushiji not only has to deal with supernatural beings in her line of work, but also her rival Yukiko Muromachi, another equally talented and beautiful police investigator.

    Source: AniDB

I like what I see. Mind games and brilliant detective work is what I hope to see in this series. What the two gun wielding maids have to do with all this is beyond me though. Will check it out.

Character design is very important for me, and this anime has a bad one. I don’t like the plot as well. Not watching this.

Hmm some sort of mystery series. But I really have no interest in watching it at all.

Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo

    Trailer: Couldn’t find one
    Air Date: 6th July
    Website: http://www.zero-tsukaima.com/

Summary (Season 1): Meet Louise, a budding magician. The students at the Tristein Academy call her “Zero Louise”, due to her current record of zero successes with magic. In fact, her magic tends to go spectacularly wrong. Now, as an important test of her aptitude for magic, she must summon a familiar to be her servant. At this critical moment, she summons up all her magic and wishes for a familiar that is “devoted, beautiful and powerful”, and gets… Hiraga Saito, an ordinary Japanese boy. It’s difficult to say who is more surprised and dismayed, but the rules don’t allow for second attempts. Louise is stuck with her strange familiar, and he with her.

Summary (Season 2): This sequel is a continuation of the previous season, not long after the war. Louise and Saito seemingly getting along now since she knows that he had given up his only chance to return to Tokyo for her. The story continues as Louise begins to use Void Magic from a mysterious secret book she had recieved from her majesty Henrietta, while a new villain has appeared in town causing trouble.

    Source: ANN

To be honest I do not feel this series warranted a 3rd season but here it is. Watched both 1st and 2nd seasons and while it is fanservice not doubt, tsun tsun Louise has her own charm I guess. Kinda like Shana ^^. Season 2’s closing battle scene was also quite impressive to watch especially when timed to the piano version of [I SAY YES]. Will be catching this I guess. Just to see Louise whip Saito a few more times ^^.

What, another sequel? 2 seasons is enough for this show, and I haven’t even watched the 1st one. I tried watching the 1st episode of the 1st season in the past but it failed to impress me. So, this one is a no..

Must watch for me. I can’t figure out for the life of me why everyone hates on the second season I found it just as enjoyable as the first so whatever to each his own I suppose. More Louise FTW.

World Destruction -Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin-

The female lead is Morte, a young woman with a tragic past and who is part of a terrorist organization plotting to destroy the world. Odds against= I dislike shows adapted from games. They tend to suck. Odds for= It DOES look decent. Maybe it’ll be better than Night Wizard? Also, it’s done by Production I.G and they did xxxHOLIC. Will check it out.

I’m not really a fan of video game adaptation anime, but I’m a very big fan of RPGs. The plot is interesting too. Will check this one out.

A anime based on a game by sega that isn’t out yet. Well lets see the odds of a game based anime being good are quite slim. But it is being done by Production I.G. so I might atleast give it a look before writing it off.

    Natsume Yuujin-chou

    Trailer: Here
    Air Date: 7th July
    Website: http://www.natsume-anime.jp/

Summary: Natsume Takashi has the ability to see spirits, which he has long kept secret. However, once he inherits a strange book that belonged to his deceased grandmother, Reiko, he discovers the reason why spirits surround him. Containing the names of these spirits, a binding contract was formed between the spirits and the owner of the book. Now, Natsume is determined to free the spirits and dissolve the contracts. With the help of a spirit cat, his days are filled trying to return the names to these spirits.

    Source: ANN

ooOOoo I like what I read and what I see. I like supernatural shows like this (see xxxHolic) so this I definitely will check this out.

Sounds like Kekkaishi to me. Never finished watching Kekkaishi before, it was good at the beginning but I got bored of it, I don’t know why though. Will watch the 1st episode to see if it can impress me or not.

Not really sure what to think on this one quite yet. It certainly sounds like it could be something good just depends on how original it ends up being. Cause it does carry the risk of just being more of the same kind of stuff.
    .

    Mission-E

    Trailer: Here

A second season titled Mission-E will air in July 2008. A new lead character named Maori Kimizuka will be joining Chinami in the sequel.

    Source: Wikipedia

Never watched season 1 so pass.

Haha..there’s no way I will watch this. I’m more surprised by the fact that Studio DEEN will be animating this. Studio DEEN better of doing what they do best, animes like Fate/Stay Night and Vampire Knight.

Apparently it is the sequel to something I haven’t heard of so I can say safely that I will pass on this one.

    Blade of the Immortal

    Trailer: Here
    Air Date: 13th July
    Website: http://mugen.kc.kodansha.co.jp/index.html

Plot Summary: Manji is a crass, violent samurai with a special ability: he cannot die. Cursed with immortality by the nun Yobikuni as punishment for his ruthless deeds, he has grown weary of his ageless life. The only way to lift the curse is to slay 1,000 evil men. So Manji wanders Japan, shedding the blood of the wicked on his quest to finally die.

    Source: ANN

The trailer did it. I’m hooked. Will watch. Or at least check out.

Woah, this one is too violent and serious for me. Rather than being fun and exciting, this kind of anime puts me to sleep

Here we go something badass and ultra violent to counteract all the cutesy stuff this season. Will certainly be interesting to see how well the anime is able to adapt the art style from the manga. Hopefully it turns out great cause this could be the best thing coming this season if it does. If not It will be horribly disappointing and a lot of fans will be very upset.

Thanks to Wikipedia, ANN and AniDB not to mention a little help from Yuki from YukiのAnimeの世界

Nothing seems really interesting this summer season.
The only shows I’m interested in is World Destruction and Natsume Yuujin-chou.
I might give the third season of zero no tsukaima, but there is a huge chance not because the second season was the downfall.
I’m not really a fan of slice of life anime.

I have my eyes on Hidamari Sketch x365 and Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.

    3. June 21st, 2008 at 12:13 pm #zihark

PATZ you are not the only one. I also enjoyed 2nd season of Zero no Tsukaima. I will admit that it could have had less fanservice but besides that I could argue that it was almost as good as the 1st season.

    4. June 21st, 2008 at 3:47 pm #wenwen

I have my eyes set on Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu because the main character looks cute and she’s an otaku, otaku characters are usually fuuny, reminds me of Nagi from Hayate no Gotoku, LOL! And the storyline seem intresting ^_^
And the Slayers…hm…I love watching this anime when I was young and it was on TV but still…I skipped a whole lot of episodes when it got off the TV so I don’t think that if I watch this, I’ll know what it’s talking about… And I realised that they changed the drawing style a bit…hm…weird…although cuter…
And fanservice animes don’t attract me unless they have good storylines… *dies*

    5. June 22nd, 2008 at 8:24 am #polka dot

The fact that none of you have seen ‘Slayers’ makes me wanna cry. I recommend you check out the previous seasons if you can’t find anything else to watch this summer.

      Slayers Revolution, soooooo wanting it!!!!!!!
