I have just got back from Singapore’s very first (so they say) Toy & Comic Convention and it is crazy down there. Since ABanzai! is not as popular as Riuva as a Singapore based anime blog so we didn’t get any invitation to their exclusive preview night the day before. Oh well.
Given the volume of pictures I have I’m splitting coverage of this event to 2 posts.
Without further ado, tons of pics after the break!

So, on reaching the convention grounds, I was greeted by the above sight. While it is probably not surprising to see so many people, I soon realised something was seriously wrong when I discovered they were all queuing up. Then I found out to my horror that you required a pass to enter the convention! Wtf?
1) There was NOTHING on the site about requiring a pass to enter. I was aware of a “passport” system that allows for collection of freebies but this was not required for entry.
2) There was barely (if anyone at all) providing information on what was going on. Everyone one I asked gave me a blank look or a “I don’t know” answer. Compounding this fact was that there were no signs indicating such a registration was required. I’m betting the only people who could provide such info were probably those at the registration counter which was besieged with so many people you couldn’t squeeze a Shana-tan in there.
Well, obviously there was some serious screw-up and the queue simply got longer and longer, to the point of disturbing the other convention halls nearby, until they apparently gave up and let everyone in without registering. LOL.
Good decision guys. This is one Convention I won’t soon forget as I replay the video clip of the mad rush into the hall on my computer over and over again…
Just to show how nuts it was here’s a pic of the ground with the entrance arrowed out in green. Everyone there was queuing up. “>_>

Okay with that out of my system, let’s get down to the stuff in the convention. It was pretty much what I expected it to be with many major companies showing of their products and works not to mention many booths selling various merchandise. In fact, it reminded me alot of the quarterly IT Shows we have here in Singapore. Though, IT shows didn’t have cosplayers running around ^^

The evil pass that had everyone queuing up. Don’t ask how I got it.

Drawing pad demonstration

I would if I could draw an apple without making it look like an orange…

There was an entire area dedicated to models and figurines which include Gundam, Neo Genesis Eva, Power Rangers and others.

They were letting kids try out gundam modeling kits for free. Naturally, the kids got to keep what they made.

There was a whole section dedicated to Lego as well since there was a competition for secondary school students to build icons representing Singapore using Lego parts.

Strong you are, in the Lego…(Note his ring lol)

Very Singaporean indeed…
And here’s another very Singaporean thing, grabbing freebies.

Wootz! Freebies!
There was an area dedicated to Star Wars stuff too.

And now for some random pics.

Wow 50%…

Photoshop editing demonstration. Wish I had half as much skill…

We had a surprising booth appear right in the middle of the convention hall. The picture says it all and I wouldn’t waste any space on this blog with words regarding THEM. The show shown in the picture seems to be some cross between Beyblade and Duel Master. Either way, nothing good to see so moving along.

There was some serious hardware being put on show like the Wii-Fit and Wii with some of the latest games like Guitar Hero and a game of Link shooting a crossbow. And then there’s the stuff below…

O_O

Look at those pedals…Shiny…^^
And then there were these armchairs that moved along with the motion on your TV screen. These guys were watching Final Fantasy Advent Children with the full works, and armchairs that moved to the special effects.

Indeed…
