I want to thank everyone for making the forums fun. But due to spammers I just don't want to deal with it. They make hundreds of accounts and spam the living hell out of the forums.

so on that note I'm taking them offline due to very little use and I'm not watching my bandwidth bill be sucked up my spammers.

Thanks again and look forward to a new episode in the coming days.

    Clannad - 24, The Finale: Tomoyo’s Chapter

Posted in CLANNAD at Jul 22nd, 2008 by Kozato /

After the summer break incident episode, which shows romantic moments between Tomoya and Nagisa, KyoAni has released the final episode of Clannad, which features the alternate ending. Welcome to Another World, Tomoyo’s Chapter.

The episode kicks off with a slow start of Tomoyo’s usual visit-to-Tomoya’s-house-to-wake-him-up scenario, but with a twist. As Tomoya laze around in bed, Tomoyo says that he can’t continue to laze around since she’s his girlfriend now. Tomoya then jokes about breaking up, which worries Tomoyo a little.

The lovebirds then spend their time in an empty classroom waiting for the results of the student council president election, with Tomoyo leaning on Tomoya’s shoulders. (Kind of sweet eh?) As fellow schoolmates went up to Tomoyo to congratulate her, some of them started to talk about why Tomoyo is together with Tomoya, who’s a delinquent in school.

The next day Tomoyo brings Tomoya and Sunohara lunch. As she leaves, classmates starts gossiping about the relationship that Tomoyo and Tomoya shares. Tomoyo suddenly becomes very busy with the workload of a student council president and she ends up using the PA system for personal reasons, which annoys the teachers a lot. This brings the beginning of problems between Tomoyo and Tomoya.

During the school festival, Tomoyo dons the bear outfit to ask Tomoya for a secret date in school, only to be stopped by a fellow student council member just before the lips of the lovers meet.

As Tomoyo leaves to attend to student council matters, this unnamed male character and Tomoya exchange words about Tomoyo. He then warns Tomoya about how much is he dragging Tomoyo down from her goal of preserving the sakura trees, leaving Tomoya in despair.

Soon things that discourage Tomoya’s will to continue the relationship takes places. Receiving advices and warnings from teachers and also his unnamed love rival, Tomoya is further pushed with stress as he is unable to see Tomoyo much due to her duties.

Finally, on a date after school, Tomoya breaks up with Tomoyo, who believed that without her in his life, will have a lot of problems, like academic performance and school lunch boxes. Tomoyo was at first very reluctant to break up, but Tomoya lies to her, saying his feelings weren’t true. As Tomoyo leaves, Tomoya takes a bite of the melting Crepe in his hands and breaks down in tears.

Tomoyo starts to change. He starts paying attention in classes, stops playing truancy, starts being punctual for school and focus more on his school work. During this period, Tomoyo achieves more being the Student Council President. She tops the nation in exams, excels in volunteery work and talks with universities representatives. (The scene of her giving a talk in school has her speaking very weird english which I don’t understand.)

Although Tomoya did better for his academic interests, his past records of misconduct in school gave him a very bad report, which sadden him further. Both Sunohara and Tomoya go for job interviews. (Sunohara dyes his hair black, which is damn funny.) And Tomoya ends up having a job in the same town he’s living at.

As Tomoya returns home from his school graduation ceremony, he runs into Tomoyo. Tomoyo then tells Tomoya that she has been waiting for the chance to tell him that she has succeed in stopping the sakura trees from cutting down.

Tomoya then says that Tomoyo has finally granted her own wish. But Tomoyo tells Tomoya that she lost something very valuable to her in the process, which is Tomoya. She declares to Tomoya that she loves him even more after the 8 months of seperation, after seeing how much he improves, how much he efforts he put in to improve.

Tomoya then talks about their future. Saying because of his job he will be staying in the same town and Tomoyo, who will be graduating next year, will be moving away to study in a university. Tomoyo then disagrees by saying she will be staying by Tomoya’s side. Tomoya tries to rebute, but Tomoyo cuts by saying that her love for Tomoya is more valuable then academic performance. She then tells Tomoya that she will go to wherever he is, with all her effort.

Tomoya then laughs, questioning whether who is the senior between the both of them. He then return Tomoyo’s feeling by saying that he will also go to wherever she is. Tomoyo, touched by his words, starts crying. The 2 of them embrace in tears.

The episode ends with Tomoya, in his work uniform, crossing a train track, towards a smiling Tomoyo, who has prepared his lunch box.

The finale to this series is amazing. I would say this is the best episode so far, it clearly captures the feelings of the characters. Despair, frustrations, hope, joy and etcetera. And this episode being more emotional, is a lot more realistic than the Nagisa and Tomoya ending.

This episode leads us to one burning question: Will there be a Tomoyo After spin off of Clannad by KyoAni? If you ask me, I would say: “YES!!! PLEASE!” But for now, I will stick to playing Tomoyo After: It’s a wonder life. And I will also be like many other Clannad fans, anticipating Clannad~After Story~.

Well, when I saw that smile on Tomoyo’s face I told myself I must use it as cover pic. But sadly, the ending for Tomoyo After is kinda sad. :(

      Wait.

      Kozato’s still alive? =P

Episode 24 kicked ass. Too bad there isn’t a full show with Tomoyo’s arc.

Can say I AM BACK!!!! Although I don’t think I will be doing Shugo Chara anymore. I might pick up Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.

Well, you can either read the manga or play the game. But I warn you. You see the ending you might cry or feel angry.
