…surprised? So am I. Didn’t expect this post coming from someone who complains about episode reviews huh.. And I’m a little late at writing this too. But hey, who cares about that. I’m writing this for the sake of CLANNAD. I’m writing this because I love CLANNAD and I have A LOT to say about this episode. So, don’t blame me..=D
CLANNAD - 24,
This episode is AMAZING. So sad that it ended so quickly. I have to say, this episode is one of the best and the best no-Kyou episode to me. This episode has doubled my love for Tomoyo, but still, Kyou>Tomoyo. Well, enough of that, I’m here to express my thoughts on the episode. So, here goes..
THIS is what I want to see in romance anime, the sweet and wonderful time couple spend together. Most romance anime (especially harem ones) only shows the ‘journey’ to the relationship. They show us all the hardships and difficult time that the characters went through to be together. And when they are together, that’s when the anime ends.. Depressing isn’t it..*points at CLANNAD anime*
In the CLANNAD anime, Nagisa won Tomoya. But they didn’t look like a ‘real’ couple. All the shyness and blushing didn’t convince me that they are a couple. Maybe they’re not ready to be together just yet. But look at TomoyaxTomoyo, that’s what I call a couple. It makes feel like saying, “Ah..so that how it feels to have a girlfriend..” (talk about ronery..lol), a feeling that I never had when watching anime since I started watching them.
How is that so? Even though I have watched numerous romance animes, this is the first time that I am truly impressed at a couple, TomoyaxTomoyo. The first time that I said “Aww..that was so sweet” when looking at Tomoya and Tomoyo. The other couples that I know of are either too cheesy or I don’t consider them being a couple at all, thanks to uncertain feelings, bad harem leads, and the presence of other girls. or maybe it’s because I love both Tomoya and Tomoyo, and seeing them together is like a dream come true (for them anyway). That’s the power of CLANNAD.
So then, why do I love Tomoyo. Hmm..hard to explain. I can write a 1000 word article on why I love Kyou, but I don’t think I can do the same with Tomoyo. But since everyone loves Tomoyo, I don’t need to explain much (anyone who doesn’t love Tomoyo, raise your hand). In this episode, I noticed a side of Tomoyo that I never knew before. Her ‘moe’ side and an even sweeter side of her.
Tomoyo already showed her moe side right from the beginning. When she heard the ‘Let’s break up’ joke from Tomoya, she instantly goes to moe mode. If I was Tomoya, I can’t even sleep when I have a girlfriend like her, thinking that she will come the next morning. And Tomoyo doesn’t mind coming to Tomoya’s room every morning. Tomoya you lucky bastard..lol..
During the time when both of them are alone in class, that’s when I said “Aww..that was so sweet..”. Seeing them so close together, was sweet and I’m happy for them. And I was happy as well when they announced that Tomoyo will be the Student Council’s President. I mean, look at Tomoyo’s face, I totally died of moe-ness. Watching this episode reminds me of how much I miss Sunohara and his jokes. Indeed, his jokes are funnier in glorious animation than in the visual novel. Tomoyo using the P.A. system to talk to Tomoya was k-a-w-a-i-i.
Well, lets talk about the more serious stuff. Why do people love to be busybodies? In the episode, the students and teachers around Tomoya and Tomoyo don’t approve of their relationship. It is none of their business. Don’t they see that Tomoya and Tomoyo are in love? Separating them is the worst thing that you can possibly think of. It will not only affect Tomoya, but it will affect Tomoyo as well. Both of them will be in a much worse condition than they were before. But thank god that Tomoyo is a strong girl..
The scene in the snow near the end of the episode totally blew me away. The animation in that scene is amazing, especially with the snow. Even little details like that are important to make an epic scene. The episode was quick but it slowed down during the snow scene, to make room for a more epic scene. I don’t need to explain more..
Overall, I really like this episode. It was short but sweet. I was wondering where was Tomoyo’s story in the CLANNAD anime, so they put it here. I’m currently playing Tomoyo’s route in the visual novel as well, and I’m expecting a story as good as the one in this episode. I officially announce that Tomoyo is my 2nd favorite CLANNAD girl, after you know who..
So, what does writing this post mean? It means that the possibility of me writing episode reviews for CLANNAD ~After Story~ is pretty high. Anyway, I can’t wait for After Story. In other words, I can’t wait to see Kyou-sensei! =D

Wow! CLANNAD! ^_^ Can’t wait to play it after my O’levels ^_^ Thanks for the link by the way ^_^ I’m soooo excited ^_^
When I first saw Tomoyo, I thought that she was the cool type, but then later on, she became moe and cute ^_^ LOL! Looking at what nutcase23 wrote, you must be totally obsessed with the game ^_^ I bet I’ll get obsessed with it when I play it, I’m gonna get ALL the good endings! hehe… ^_^ When I play a game, I focus on geting all the CGs and endings ^_^ And know each character’s character ^_^ And I’m sure that Sunohara’s jokes are better in anime ^_^
And you really should watch S.A again(when it ends and you download the whole batch like you said ^_^) Because it’s um…LOL!!! I think I wrote a post on my livejournal on why I like it ^_^ Ya, I did ^_^

Tomoyo banzai! My favorites are Tomoyo and Nagisa, however Kyou is really low on my list XD.
In your post you said Tomoyo and Tomoya were a better couple then Nagisa x Tomoya x.x I might be a little biased having played through all of After Story (Saddest and most touching story ever T.T) but I think Nagisa x Tomoyo is a much better match. The two of them complete each other and drive each other forward. Nagisa gives Tomoya emotional support/strength and Tomoya urges Nagisa onward and helps her strive for her dreams.
Tomoyo x Tomoya is also great in a different way, but I like NxT better XD.
Hmm… for Kyou though I don’t really like her… at first I was crazy about her going all “OMG KYOU THIGH HIGHS <3″ but when I saw her in the visual novel a lot of her negative aspects came to light. Her story seemed so generic to me, also it seemed as unlikely to happen in real life as the others but I guess that’s not a problem. (lol 3 pplz love triangle with ur own twin sister?) However she and Tomoya didn’t seem like a good pair, they made fun of Youhei together and had similar thoughts in that respect, but it didn’t go much deeper then that. Kyou was always too forceful and I couldn’t get the feeling that Tomoya was enjoying his time with her. Neither Ryou nor Kyou seemed to have a valid reason for falling so hard for Tomoya.
Kyou’s personality is nothing special either. She’s a tsundere, and an awesome one at that, but nothing really special. Tomoyo’s strong personality was enjoyable and rare, while Nagisa was a generic weak girl at first but showed herself to be much, much, more and had great development. Kyou’s personality doesn’t really develop much either, besides realizing she should have just confessed. But… wasn’t she the one who told Nagisa to be brave and grab what you want… so she kind of came off as a hypocrite to me.
In Kyou’s route one of the things that bugged me was nothing really advanced much in the grand scope character’s lives. Kyou just FINALLY got together with Tomoya but no big realizations happened for either of them, they didn’t really seem to “grow” as characters (I might have missed it though). Tomoya’s still the same old delinquent bum he always was, just +1 hot girl friend.
Ah sorry for getting de-railed and rambling on about Kyou. I don’t really dislike her so don’t misunderstand, but I’d like your opinion on what makes Kyou a really great character.

@ wenwen: Yea, I’m totally obsessed with CLANNAD right now. I don’t exactly know why though.. And if you’re planning to get all the ending, then it will take a long time. CLANNAD is a long visual novel and I have only completed 2 endings..
After some recommendation from you and nutcase23, I finally gave up and watched S.A again. It did get better. Not as good as Ouran, but at least it’s more likable.
@ FlameStrike: I like both Kyou and Tomoyo. But for some reason, I don’t like Nagisa much. The shy and reserved girl is not really my type. Well, I haven’t played After Story though. I have to unlock 8 endings (8 lights) to play After Story and I have only unlocked 1 (Kyou’s), currently playing Tomoyo’s route. I’m sure that the Nagisa in After Story is better than the one that I know. And..I have read ‘THE’ After Story spoiler somewhere (damn you internet), and..I want to find out why ‘IT’ happened by playing the game myself. So, I’m trying to avoid anymore spoilers.
Regarding Kyou, I will answer your question in my next post.^_^

i love clannad its the best anime ever i think, as u may well know many animes just overexagerates 2 much, this is pratically perfect its nearly like real life basically showin relationships though i wonder how can he choose between all of those girls? especially after watchin this episode
this is a superb episode, i now want 2 see wot tey did for Shuffle! tey made 2 episodes dedicated 2 each girl ending i hope they do it for this anime showing the ending for each girl in the game though i wuldnt mind if tey made it more than 1-3 eps long
im keeping my eyes out for em, tey made Air and Kanon which were great, they just keep on gettin better and better the animes they make, surely theres going to be a certain limit on how gr8 of an anime these guys can make….
cant wait for Season 2! even though i got exams 2 test me i think this anime is top priority….

@ Captain127: Yep, there so many things that CLANNAD can do well with. When compared with other harem animes, CLANNAD is clearly the best. Its Key’s best work. And there’s a reason why it’s my favorite anime.^_^
Shuffle!? Don’t compare the masterpiece that is CLANNAD with something like Shuffle!. That show was ‘ok’ but nothing beats CLANNAD. Nothing..
I have an upcoming exam too. And it’s a VERY important exam as well. And the exam is in middle October, the time when CLANNAD After Story will most probably air. So, I have to watch the first 2 or 3 episodes later than everyone else..*sob*
