A show that fell under my radar for sometime. Obviously I have picked it up again and I am pleasantly surprised at how the story has turned up.

For the first 3-4 episodes or so, the story wasn’t particularly interesting and focuses mainly on introducing the main characters Allison Whittington, Wilhelm Schultz and while sneaking into an enemy base and stealing their plane, Carr Benedict.

“You didn’t have to sneak into an enemy base just to see handsome me…”

The show’s relatively slow pace and the prescence of other more exciting shows left me putting it on the “not-so-important” list. What really put me off was when the above trio discovered a lost Mural that when announced apparently led to the resolution of a long standing war between the Eastern and Western regions.

Excuse me while I remain unimpressed

For the cynical me, the idea that a wall painting from ages past could do something like that (whatever real life examples there may be) had me shunting the show to the waiting-list. To my detriment.

An upset Fiona is fine too

The show gets better as it moves on to bringing in our 4th character which is the cute Fiona who turns out to be the estrangled heir apparent to the throne of Ikstova. With help of the gang and the blessings of the almighty script which grants her a senior security official who recognises her status, they expose a traitorous politician and regain the throne.

    “OMFG it’s real!!!”

Notice that the most important person remains unguarded

But all is not over. While they are on holiday, the gang gets embroiled in a luxury train hi-jinks as they are forcibly involved in a covert attempt to silence an unscrupulous Tycoon who, in the interest of his arms business, would like to foster war.

    Bigass Anti-Tank Rifle

Quite an exciting series of events no?

“I just wanted a normal holiday!”

    [Thoughts]

The revelation of Major Stork as Allison’s supposedly dead father came as a surprise to me. His connection to her past was pretty much obvious from the moment he appeared but I expected him to be someone Allison’s father knew rather than the father himself. Not to mention his appearance……

People would kill to find out about his weight loss program. Probably a military secret. =P

My favourite character of the show so far would definitely be Wilhelm Schultz. I like the way he is always calm and clear-headed in tense situations as well as his intellect which allows him to piece together various pieces of small information to make insightful inferrences and ultimately deduce that Major Stork is Allison’s father. It is probably not surprising that he got recruited by Allison’s father to join the Intelligence Agency.

    “You sir, are a FRAUD!”

On the side of romance, the Carr Benedict and Fiona pairing is probably expected since they were making those sparkling eyes at each other ever since they met. It bugs me that Fiona, being the Queen of Ikstova, could so easily marry Carr Benedict just like that. I suppose his “Hero” status probably helped him loads as well as his part in exposing the politician. They didn’t exactly show us how they went about with the marriage so I guess we’ll just take it as it is.

    Aww….sweet…

Compared to the lovey-dovey Gentleman and Lady courtship (fast as it was) between Benedict and Fiona, Allison’s courtship towards the clueless (intentional or otherwise) Wilhelm pretty much resembled a cat pouncing on a rather slippery mouse. Despite of all the misses, Allison finally manages the corner the slippery Wilhelm and drags him off for the exchanging of vows. It has been a long time since I grinned so widely.

Their love life in the bed room must be very interesting indeed

As of the end of the 13th episode, we have reached the end of the Allison arc and will move on to the Lillia arc. Lillia is the daughter of Wilhelm and Allison and her full name is Lilliane Acacia Corazón Whittington Schultz which looks to be a combination of the names of people and places that were important in their lives.

Gotta love that feeler-like strand of hair

While it was sad that Allison and Wilhelm had to part due to Wilhelm’s line of work, I thought it was a pretty nice touch to end the arc with Wilhelm being Allison’s boyfriend but this time under a new identity and appearance. And all this with Lillia, their daughter, never knowing her father is right beside her all the time. It would be interesting to see how this dynamic will unfold for the later episodes.

Who seperates his own son-in-law from his daughter anyway?

Scenes like these always occur during sunsets or rain.

The military has done its magic once again! Not so much weight loss though.

So all in all a rather interesting Adventure-themed series. If Lillia gains the beauty and guts of Allison and the brains and composure of Wilhelm, I feel the following 13 episodes will be interesting indeed.

    Some things never change…
