    • Banzai Beat forums going away

I want to thank everyone for making the forums fun. But due to spammers I just don't want to deal with it. They make hundreds of accounts and spam the living hell out of the forums.

so on that note I'm taking them offline due to very little use and I'm not watching my bandwidth bill be sucked up my spammers.

Thanks again and look forward to a new episode in the coming days.

    • Banzaibeat.com 2.0 has launched

    • Setsukyie Rah-rah!

Lol exams. Good luck! Or maybe you can just tell your teachers that you are not interested in ordinary exams. =D

    • Exams...

I have exams today and for the rest of the week. *sigh*

      Wish me luck ^_^

    • Work...work...

The work...It is piling up!!! Why can't reality and anime co-exist in peace?!??!?!!

  • Okay. It has been just over half a year since I joined Anime Banzai! as a writer (8 mths if anyone is counting).

I guess it’s time to do a little looking back as I step into the next phase of my life.

Incidentally, these past months have been one of new beginnings as I re-organised my room, reformatted my computer, Abanzai upgrading to version 4 (although oOgA seems to want to do a version 5 right now), cleaning up my display cabinet etc etc…

Anyway, with my 2 years (almost) of obligatory National Service over and done with, I can finally move on to the next stage of the show which is my life. University.

Just to clarify, I’m not a girl O_o

But before we go there, I need to bore you with my ramblings of the good old times.

    .

    [Looking Back]

As some of you would know, I started properly watching Anime only recently, somewhere around March of last year. It started simply. My friend introduced me to some shows and I watched them. After I watched them, I asked for more. I started looking for more shows by myself and soon I found myself watching both current shows and old shows concurrently. I was hooked.

    Ji~~~~~

I started checking up on Anime Blogs for information on news and pretty much remained a lurker for sometime. During that time, the sites I mainly monitored were Random Curiousity and Anime Banzai! (no I’m not stoking your ego oOgA. It is true =D)

    *click click*
However, soon, I wasn’t satisfied with just being a lurker. Being a comment and a name at the end of a writer’s posts didn’t satisfy me either. That was when I spotted a scrolling marquee at the top of then Anime Banzai! Version 3. It was probably there for sometime but I failed to notice it till then. In short, oOgA’s scrolling marquee could be summarised to the below:

    oOgA: Uguu~ I want more writers~…

I thought and pondered and deliberated. And send in an email.

Can you guess the show? =D

    And the rest is history.
    .

    .

    [Reflections and the Road Ahead]

    Anime that is =D

Fast forward to now, I have watched my share of shows, gone to my share of Anime related events and bought my share of figurines. Oh how I have fallen.

    I don’t do that……. Seriously……You don’t believe me do you? >_>

I have seen Anime Banzai! transition from Version 3 to Version 3.5 (oh the horror!) and finally to Version 4 (and now maybe version 5?). While there are still bugs and tweaks that oOgA has to work out (I count them by the tens), I must say it is looking a hell lot nicer and I’m sure the final product would be even more so.

As a writer in Anime Banzai!, I have gained much from this blog, namely being able to make friends with fellow overseas writers Jellokun, Patz and Setsukyie and our local writers Hiyuu, Kozato, Moe-chan, Hinoko and of course our Blog Master (He-Who-Wields-The-Chopping-Knife) oOgA.

oOgA expects worship 3 times a day. That’s him in the middle. That’s Setsukyie glomping him.

Also, being a writer of this blog has indirectly pushed me to picking up some skills I wouldn’t normally acquire such as Photoshopping and Audio editing, both of which I needed for pictures and our currently on hiatus Funcast. As of now, I’m picking up abit on Video editing as well =D.

“oOgA asked you to write an editorial?”

Now that I’ve stepped into university, a whole new life awaits me. I don’t know what to expect but it will probably be an exciting, life-changing experience. (yeah, one of impending deadlines, endless assignments, eternity slaving in front of a boiling test tube and the pilling up of unwatched anime that reaches to high heaven.)

Yeah, I looked like that when I heard the timetable.

Just in case anyone’s curious, I’ll be reading Life Sciences at the National University of Singapore. I will of course be joining my fellow anime fans in the NUS Comic and Animation Society. =D

And not forgetting my many many microbe friends whom I’ll be seeing very often.

Whatever may come, it will be a given that my time will no longer be as abundant as before. Thus, I will no longer do episodic reviews (haven’t done them for awhile anyway ^^) and instead follow what Setsukyie had mentioned previously and maybe do summaries instead. (That and I feel freaking lazy too =D)

I will also probably do sneak peeks and what I call “impulse posts” where I watch a show and get this immediate urge to post.

I will of course continue to check out local events Singapore-side if time permits and also fill the blog with more Lucky Star goodness =D.

    <3

And so to conclude my long-winded post:-

To Jellokun: Keep it up with the Podcast and forums, you are doing great. (^_^)b
To Patz: Stop introducing me 80s and 90s anime or I’ll have no life. And time your shipments to avoid EPIC WALLET DRAINAGE =D
To Hiyuu: Good luck with NS life and please teach me uber Photoshop skills =D
To Setsukyie: Here’s to future joint posts and projects. d( ^w^.)b
To Kozato and Hinoko: Look forward to seeing you guys at local events.
To Moe-chan: Quit giving all your electrical appliances Moe names. It’s creepy O_o

And finally to oOgA: Great Job with the blog and keep it up. You know who to look for if you need help. As long as it doesn’t involve coding the blog =D.

    Thanks guys.

    Kore kara mo yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

    Anime Banzai!

PS: Are you able to list all the anime whose screenshots I used? =D

We all have our friends to thank for introducing the world of anime to us.
Now that I’m a big anime fan, I can’t imagine my life without anime.

Good job and this is your first editorial, right?
I’m still waiting for the editorial that will explain why you think that Lucky Star is UBER EPIC.

Anyway, I will do a post like this about myself later.^_^
