    • Banzai Beat forums going away

I want to thank everyone for making the forums fun. But due to spammers I just don't want to deal with it. They make hundreds of accounts and spam the living hell out of the forums.

so on that note I'm taking them offline due to very little use and I'm not watching my bandwidth bill be sucked up my spammers.

Thanks again and look forward to a new episode in the coming days.

    What’s in our names?

Posted in Editorials at Aug 18th, 2008 by nutcase23 /

This picture has no relation to this post. And yes please =D

Would Setsukyie called by any other name be as CLANNAD crazy?

If you have ever wondered about the stories behind the names of some of our writer, wonder no more!

Here’s a little inside scoop on what makes up our names!

Nope, no link with this post either…

I’ll start the ball rolling then.

I’ve had many people question my nick and have been the subject of a few jabs but that’s to be expected.

nutcase23: It started when I was trying to sign up for an online game. All my usual nickname choices were taken. After trying for half an hour, I just threw in “nutcase” and slammed 2 numbers in. It worked and I’ve stuck with it ever since. Signing up for stuff’s a breeze since no one else uses “nutcase”. =D

oOgA: oOgA originated many years ago as my online alias when I was exposed to this catchy song by Baha Men. As it was my catchy and many ppl starting screaming ooga shaga in IRC, it became my online alias till now. See video @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sau07s9Fc5Y

Jellokun: I needed a nick name for the blog, I was eating some jello k? :D

Kozato: When I first started watching anime, I was a DDR freak. But I came to like this song called rengetsu sakura (恋月桜花), which I think means Love Moon. After frantically looking for the artist of this song, I came to like his other works and decided that hey, his name was kinda cool, so I used his name as my own nick name.

    Setsukyie:
I made ‘Setsukyie’ up randomly. For some reason, the name came into my mind during the time I was desperate for a new in-game-name (ign) for a MMORPG. Yea, I used to change my ign all the time because I will eventually hate it even though I like it at first. My previous in-game-names include OmniBlade (sounded cool for me back then), Blitzeken (made it up by using Blaziken’s name, a pokemon), Eklyzypher (combined 2 nicknames from a forum, and got flamed for it), and eventually Setsukyie (unknown reason). I got tired of changing nicknames all the time so I decided to keep this one. It seems that I’m attached to this name. Been using ‘Setsukyie’ for 2 years, the name is cool (for me anyway) and I can’t possibly come up with a cooler name. Although, I hate it when my schoolmates say that I ripped off Sasuke’s (from Naruto) name. It’s like saying that I’m a Sasuke wannabe, and I HATE Sasuke. I’ve been telling them all the time that ‘Setsukyie’ is different from ‘Sasuke’, different spellings and different pronunciations. But they still don’t get it… Anyway, Setsukyie is a cool name and I love it. ^_^

Moe-chan: The origin of my name? You should know better. Obviously its dedicated to my ultimate love of 萌え.

    Patz:
My first name is Patrick.I shortened it to Pat and added a Z. Name was originally supposed to be pronounced Pat Zee. But I decided that sounded too much like Patsy. So i switched it to be pronounced Pats, with a Z.

    And there you go.

This is how my user name came to be:

metal: Fan of the MetalGear series.

snake: I like snakes and years ago I thought it was my Chinese zodiac sign but found out it was the Dragon. I wasn’t able to change the name so I kept it.

zero: Favorite character from the Megaman(Rockman) series.

Hmm, I guess this is something I’d like other bloggers to do - names are a fairly interesting thing, after all, so usernames by their nature are no different.
