After watching, episode one, I can almost (ALMOST) take back whatever I said previously.
If you are a MSN fan you should be watching this. And if you are not an MSN fan, WHY AREN’T YOU?

Oh look it’s Kotaro!
If you have read my previous post, I was abit miffed what they chose to animate mostly the fanservice area (i’ve got nothing against fan service) while leaving out the battles (based on the chapters they were animating). However, Shiroki Tsubasa surprised me with a short starting clip of the end of the world tree battle with Negi in his final-face off with Chao Lingshen.

oOgA: nutcase23! Stop posting Lucky Star pictures!!!

nutcase23: NEVER!!! My love for Konata shines as bright as my lightning!!!

Just another day in Anime Banzai
It is a pity that they didn’t animate the World Tree arc. That would have been one awesome OVA or season or whatever.

He kicks ass in a fight.
This particular episode covers the confirmation that Negi’s father is alive, the formation of the Ala Alba and the Summer Festival (of badge snatching). Some snippets here and there of the training the gang underwent in preparation were shown though I would very much have liked to see Asuna’s hellish winter training in more detail.

Sketchbook vs Tiger stance.

Traditional works best sometimes. (Mmmmmm yuri under tones =D)

Eva gets screentime. I felt she should have had a more sinister aura though…
The fun begins when class president Yukihiro Ayaka and a few others discover their plan and try to get themselves in it.

Setsukyie: I’m BURNING with CLANNAD love!!!
nucase23: <_<||
With predictable results.

Epic Fail
The war escalates, with the help of Evangeline, to a Summer Festival badge snatchfest for the right to be in the Ala Alba.

Naturally, they go for the seemingly most defenseless of the lot. But Yue and Nodoka are a much bigger handful than they look.

Yer badge or yer life!!
The episode follows pretty closely to the manga. Which is a good thing. Here’s a comparison.
Anime:

Manga:

Incidentally, the above is one of my favourite scenes in this part of the manga as it shows the beginning of Yue’s apititude as a mage. Of course Nodoka is another of my favourite. Being cute, easily embarrassed, innocent AND able to read minds presents for very interesting situations. She has a moments to shine too of course.

All your (perverted) thoughts are belong to us
Here’s another comparison.

Manga:

However, from the flow of the show, I feel that the show is more geared to those who have read the manga. The episode offers little explaination for the events that have occured and are occuring and simply plods on. While those who have read the manga would certainly enjoy it, those who haven’t may find themselves missing something.
With the failure of her subordinates, the class prez takes things into her own hands. I’ll do another comparision cuz the prez is so awesome and so is Asuna =D.

SO UNFAIR!!!

Divine Punishment!
MSN is currently my favourite manga. I’ve probably said this many times but I really wish that someone would animate the whole thing (especially the World Tree arc). Season 1’s ending was WTF and Negima!? was just plain weird. It really is such a pity as MSN has so many really cool combat scenes. At least season 1 did the Kanto arc pretty well. Negima!? just had those one hit strikes which I really dislike (the only exception being that battle with Setsuna getting pactio’ed. THAT was uber cool).
The manga right now is steadily reaching another exciting phase which promises more cool action and bigger spells.
To sum it up,
If you haven’t watched this, watch it.
If you haven’t read the manga, go read it.
I can’t wait to catch the other episodes.

It’s Anya!!!
Next episode in around 17 Novemeber, Onsen Bonanza!
