I want to thank everyone for making the forums fun. But due to spammers I just don't want to deal with it. They make hundreds of accounts and spam the living hell out of the forums.

so on that note I'm taking them offline due to very little use and I'm not watching my bandwidth bill be sucked up my spammers.

Thanks again and look forward to a new episode in the coming days.

  • Yep..you know it’s coming.. *ACTIVATING FANBOY MODE*

Since nutcase23 is lazy busy with university life and I can say the same for Patz as well, I’ll be taking the responsibility to write the Fall 2008 anime season’s preview. I was supposed to be on hiatus, but oh well, someone has to do this. I can’t just let Anime Banzai! miss out on one of the greatest anime seasons and possibly the best for this year, the Fall 2008 Anime Season.

Fall 2008 has a lot of animes to offer, and I must say, a lot of good ones. Well, it’s much better than Summer 2008, where I only watch one show from that season. As for Fall 2008, a lot of animes caught my eye. Some of them are sequels from last year’s Fall season animes, this includes CLANNAD ~After Story~, ef ~A Tale of Melodies~, and Gundam 00 Second Season, and all three of them are fan’s favorites.

As usual, fellow Banzai-nians, nutcase23, Patz and of course oOgA! will be joining me in this post. Fellow Banzai-nian and the owner of ARIA Anime, Akiraman is also here to share his thoughts. I’ll be listing it in order of their airing date. Images are found on random sites, and the summaries come from Anime News Network, AniDB, Wikipedia, and other sites, so a big thanks to them. Well then, here goes.

    Battle Spirits Shounen Toppa Bashin

    Air date: 7 September
    Animation company: Toei Animation

    Summary
Based on the Bandai’s highly popular card game, this anime is set up in collaboration for the 20th anniversary of Bandai card games. It is reputed to have fast game play and immediate turnarounds. The animators plan to incorporate computer graphics to portray the battles from the card game.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Another card game anime… Definitely not for me.

nutcase23: Based on a Trading Card Game? Sorry, not my cup of tea.

    Patz: Thanks But No Thanks.

Akiraman: Looks like another shonen anime that will compete with Soul Eater. I think those who like card games will resonate easily with this anime.

oOgA: blargh..such animes are not my type. zz

    Hakushaku to Yousei

    Air date: 28 September
    Animation company: Artland

    Summary
The story is set in 19th century England and centers on a “fairy doctor” named Lydia. Her life takes a 180-degree turn when she meets a legendary blue knight count named Edgar, and his crew. He hires her as an adviser during his quest to obtain a treasured sword that was supposed to be handed down to him by his family.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Nah.. The whole medieval England thing already gurantees a ‘no’ from me. It has Nana Mizuki and Tomokazu Sugita in it, other than that, nothing interests me.

nutcase23: Looks too fantastical to me. I think I’ll pass. Seems to be Shoujo. Maybe Kozato will pounce on it ^^

Patz: Can’t say there is anything that makes me interested in it. Might check it out for the heck of it. Not much chance of keeping with it though.

Akiraman: Looks like a Love story based in old England. I really like the cat though.somehow when there is old 19th Centuray anime it seems to be aimed at girls who whant to have handsome man servants. But I do hope there will be action in this one since the story is more different.

oOgA: Might give this a try but if the setting is weak, i might drop it. medieval animes need to try very hard to impress.

    Toradora!

    Air date: 1 October
    Animation company: J.C Staff

    Summary
Despite Ryūji Takasu’s gentle personality, his eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent so he is utterly hopeless about his chances of getting a girlfriend anytime soon, and does not have many close friends either. After being greeted by his hungover mother in the morning, Ryūji goes to school and is happy to find that he gets to be in the same class as his best friend Yūsaku Kitamura and crush Minori Kushieda. However, it is then that he unexpectedly knocks into “the school’s most dangerous animal of the highest risk level” — Taiga Aisaka — who just happens to also be in his class, and is a good friend of Minori.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: A tsundere? I’m sold. Plus, it’s by Kugimiya Rie, famous for being an awesome seiyuu for tsundere characters. Also, Horie Yui is in it (one of my favorites). But what interests me is the summary. This type of show promises romance, comedy, and a lot of misunderstandings between the two. Also, Taiga looks cute. ^_^

    nutcase23: Tsundere loli? I’m in! =D

Patz: Let’s see J.C. Staff+Loli Tsundere. Hmm I see nothing wrong there. But in all seriousness I have read the first 2 Novels and enjoyed them both. Only thing is I need to see exactly how it looks before I decide for sure if I will be watching it.

Akiraman: I really like the character design for this anime, but I am not so sure if its going to hold me. I do expect it to be funny though.

oOgA: Looks like Eriko from Fortune Arterial with a slight tap of Shana? , Kugimiya Rie will play a major role here. Might be interesting.

    Yozakura Shijuusou ~Yozakura Quartet~

    Air date: 2 October
    Animation company: Nomad

    Summary
The story revolves around a quartet of teenaged heroes: A super-strong girl named Hime, a mind reader named Ao, a conjurer named Kotoha and an ordinary, powerless boy named Akina. The three girls and Akina protect the city of Sakurashin from supernatural threats.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I guess I’ll check this one out. But if it gets too ’super-natural’ and less comedy, I’ll drop it. We’ll see..

nutcase23: This one’s got my eye. It seems rather similiar to ZKC though…

Patz: Started reading the manga a month or 2 ago. I have read to volumes and really enjoy it. Like the characters. The story is kind of hard to follow at the beginning but I like it. Might hold off on that anime and just stick to reading it for awhile though.

Akiraman: A supernatural comedy anime of some sorts, will have to check out the trailer to see if it is worth watching.

oOgA: One super hero to save them all and one weak shounen ? bah..not planning to watching this.

    CLANNAD ~After Story~

    Thoughts

    Setsukyie: OMGWTFBBQ11111!! IT’S HERE!!
Ahem..some of you should know that I’m a big CLANNAD fan, so this is on top of my list for this season. The first season (school arc) amazed me and it became my second favorite anime (after Haruhi), and the visual novel made it all better. I really like the first season, with the combination of romance, drama, and not to forget the comedy (most of them are contributed by Sunohara, the greatest ‘harem lead’s best friend’ type ever). KyoAni made it even better, with the beautiful animation and awesome voice casts. Fans say that the After Story is where the true heart of CLANNAD lies, the reason that made CLANNAD Key’s greatest work yet. This promises an epic story. Unfortunately, I already read the spoiler for the After Story, about what happened in the end (damn you internet). But that won’t stop from watching this masterpiece. As for blogging this, I think that everyone in the animeblogosphere will be blogging it, and I doubt that anyone will read mine. But we’ll see. Again, I can’t wait for this. ^_^

    nutcase23: F*CK YEAH!!!
Do you even need to ask?

Patz: Odds are Setsukyie and Nutcase will get on me for this but I just don’t know if I give a damn about CLANNAD anymore >_>. These types of shows in general are something I have a hard time caring about anymore. Odds are I am going to just hold off on the damn thing and maybe marathon it once it is over. But I’m not really interested in making it a weekly view >_>

Akiraman: A top bloggin priority for me. Everyone loves CLANND after a succesful 1st season. I expect it to have more emotional stuff in the 2nd one though.

oOgA: It is up to KyoAni to make it an epic success or failure depending how they are going unveil the plot and ultimately the ending of CLANNAD. As a fan of Key games, this anime is defintely a must-watch for me. Apart from the fanboy fanaticsim like what Setsukyie have, I will take a fairer stand and judge. CLANNAD FTW!

Hokuto no Ken Raoh Gaiden: Ten no Haoh

    Air date: 3 October
    Animation company: Satelight

    Summary
Youkow Osada’s Ten no Haoh - Hokuto no Ken Raoh Gaiden manga spinoff will be animated as a series this fall. Unlike most of the previous Fist of the North Star anime, this story focuses not on the protagonist Kenshiro, but on the early life of his oldest brother and frequent enemy Raoh. Osada’s manga ran from 2006 to 2007 in Comic Bunch magazine and was compiled into five volumes.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Old school anime.. Not my cup of tea.

    nutcase23: Pass.

Patz: Safe to assume this is way too manly for Nutcase and Setsukyie. Looks to me like this could be something quite cool. And Raoh is freaking Badass.

Akiraman: Does not seem to be my type of show.

    oOgA: Yawn

    Tales of the Abyss

    Air date: 3 October
    Animation company: Sunrise

    Summary
Luke fon Fabre, the son of Duke Fabre of the Kimlasca Kingdom, is 17 years old. He is the Light of the Sacred Flame who is destined to bring prosperity to Kimlasca. Since being kidnapped seven years ago by the Malkuth Empire, he has been kept confined to the Fabre family mansion. The shock of the kidnapping has erased all of Luke’s memories prior to the event. One fateful day, a mysterious woman breaks into the mansion and sets off a chain of events that drag Luke into the center of a massive conflict between those who would do anything to see the Score carried out, and those who would see it broken forever.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: YES!! One of my favorite video games is getting an anime adaptation. The game was awesome! I know that most of us (at least people who never played the game) won’t be interested in this anime, but you should. The main character, Luke will annoy you, since he is a spoiled brat, but the other characters are awesome. Tear is love! Plus, Sunrise is animating this, which is a good thing (for me anyway). Really really looking forward to this one.

nutcase23: Another game adaptation? The only one I ever lasted through was Night Wizard and even that was average. Pass.

Patz: Never played this specific game. But If I end up hearing good things about the series I might check it out.

Akiraman: I Blogged about the anime PV preview and found it rather eye-catching. I have a lot of faith since in the Tales Games story to be brought to live on anime.

oOgA: Game’s good, will give it a try to see how this anime adaptatio fare.

    Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae

    Air date: 4 October
    Animation company: Studio Deen

    Summary
Somewhere in the vast sea of the Internet, there’s a website that can only be accessed at the stroke of midnight. Known as the Jigoku Tsushin, rumor has it that if you post a grudge there, the Jigoku Shoujo will appear and drag whoever torments you into the inferno. Very little is known about the girl - all we know for sure is that she lives with her equally enigmatic grandmother, that three magical straw dolls accompany and serve her, and that whenever a posting on the Jigoku Tsushin moves her, she becomes the Jigoku Shoujo.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I ‘almost’ finshed watching the first season, but I decided to drop it. It was really boring.. Every single episode tells us the same thing, people who use that straw doll will go to hell. I don’t need 80+ episodes to understand it.

nutcase23: I’m actually still in the first few episodes of the first season. Uni’s being a pain and I can barely find time to watch current shows let alone check out the older series. I like the first few episodes I have watched though.

Patz: Copy and Paste from Nodame only this is 3rd season.

Akiraman: Ah Emma Ai, I enjoyed the 1st season but missed the 2nd. Some of my friends found the story a little meh, but I found it interesting and I like the different stories in this series, I do not know what Emma Ai will be up to in this one.

oOgA: Finally, the wait is gonna be over. I enjoyed the both seasons and I hope season 3 will improve further by diving into the plot of Enma Ai rather than going the usual route of “Curse-kill-regret”. Must watch. As what for above had mentioned, Jigoku Shoujo’s climax begins only at the mid to last episodes

    Kemeko Deluxe

    Air date: 5 October
    Animation company: Hal Film Maker

    Summary
Ten years ago, high-school student Sanpeita dreamed he was engaged to a beautiful girl. One morning, an unknown homely girl suddenly pressed him for marriage. The homely girl was named Kemeko. In order to escape, Sanpeita left for school where Kemeko followed and showed up with an uproar. A larger disturbance was when Sanpeita was targeted by a rice cooker on the school’s rooftop. As Sanpeita and his childhood friend Izumi were being attacked by the rice cooker, Kemeko saved them both. What is the girl’s true shape!?

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Nah..not for me. A rice cooker that attacks people? lol..

nutcase23: I have absolutely no idea what to say for this one. I guess I’ll just watch the first fews eps to see how it is.

    Patz: I Unno. I Just I Unno.

Akiraman: A Mecha musume themed anime at least she wears pants.

oOgA: To Love Ru Rice cooker ? Aint interested.

    Macademi Wasshoi!

    Air date: 5 October
    Animation company: ZEXCS

    Summary
Magician’s Academy revolves around Takuto Hasegawa, who attends a magic academy that is not marked on any map. During a summoning spell exam, he accidentally creates a girl named Tanarot, who happends to hold enough magical power to destroy his country, but fortunately Tanarot professes undying loyalty to her “creator.”

    Thoughts

    Setsukyie: Jailbait.

    nutcase23: NO.

    Patz: No Thanks

Akiraman: LOL funny cute character design, not sure if I want to watch it though.

oOgA: Creating a girl ???? wtf?

    Gundam 00 Second Season

    Air date: 5 October
    Animation company: Sunrise

    Summary
2312 A.D. Four years have passed since the final battle between Celestial Being and the UN Forces. Humanity, after having established the Earth Sphere Federation, forms an independent security force, Arrows, separate from the formal Federation army to further unify nations and the will of mankind. But the reality is the inhumane oppression of anti-government powers, doctrines, and ideologies in the name of unity. Setsuna F. Seiei, after surviving the battle four years ago, has decided to once again fight with his Gundam.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Fans have been hyping this since the first season ended. Unfortunately, I’m one of the people who didn’t finish the first season.. But I’m planning to do so in the future, and I might as well watch the second season. For now, I’ll let Patz have the Gundam love.

nutcase23: I WANTS A RESOLUTION TO THAT DAMN CLIFFHANGER!!!
    Enuff said. >_>

Patz: Freaking Finally. Been dying these past 6 months waiting for this to start. I have to say it is about darn time lol. Just have to say woot for more Gundam.

Akiraman: Ah Gundam I love the new Gundams in Gundam 00, it kind of like a prequal to the Gundam’s we know of today and with the subtext story of war in our world today. But I wonder is it necessary for such a plot for Gundam? I Stopped watching Gundam 00 after Shana came on screen. Maybe if the 2nd Season initial episdoes are interesting I might put it into my watchlist.

oOgA: Never into Gundam. Skipping this sequel. I still prefer my Macross Frontier :P

    Kyou no Go no Ni

    Air date: 5 October
    Animation company: XEBEC

    Summary
An ecchi, school-life comedy show about Ryota Satou and his hilarious events and, often perverted, situations that he goes through and ends up in.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I don’t know about this one. Maybe I’ll watch it, maybe I won’t.

nutcase23: The OVA was funny as hell. Not Ichigo Mashimaro epic (Pedo alert!) but still there.
This series brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “Kids do the darnest things”. =D

Patz: Woot. I loved the 4 episode OVA that was made a few years ago. That alone makes me want to watch this. Is safe to say this series is gunna rock or else.

Akiraman: Liked XEBEC previous productions so it will be top notch animation wise. Since it has light comedy sexual themes I am expecting a similar one to Kanokon.

oOgA: Ichigo Mashimaro was prolly the last anime of such kind that I watched.

    Skip Beat

The president of LME puts her into a new section made for those who caught his eye but have something missing. It’s name… Section Love Me.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I have a soft spot for shoujo animes. Even though the summary doesn’t interest me much, but it’s still a shoujo anime. Animes like these are sure to have romance and comedy.

nutcase23: It says rom-com and my mind jumps to Itazura na KISS.
Well it had better be good since Itazura na KISS pretty much raised the rom-com bar in my books. Will check out the first few episodes I guess.

Patz: The manga has been something I have been meaning to check out for quite awhile. Not sure what I will do now. Might end up just watching it instead. I would say it is a flip of a coin atm.

Akiraman: Most probably skipping this not that interested in Shoujo stuff besides Vampire Knight, but its Inoue Maria voicing so I think it will be good to catch a few episodes.

oOgA: Made by HAL, it aint too shabby for a start, will give this a try. =D

    Ga-rei-zero

    Air date: 5 October
    Animation company: AIC Spirits

    Summary
Freshman Nimura Kensuke has the ability to see ghosts, and his life changes when he meets Kagura, a girl with the power to summon a “Ga-Rei” called Byakuei. The two work together to find evil spirit and devour them with the Ga-Rei.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I don’t think so.. It’s shounen after all..

nutcase23: Super secret agency? Mysterious girl who transfers into class? Fighting spirits while kissing? (Okay, after kissing)
I guess I’ll stay to check out the action. If it ain’t up to par I’m dropping this fast.

Patz: Alrighty this is a weird one. Apparently the anime is some sort of prequel to the story in the manga. Least that is how the Kadokawa lady at Otakon was describing it. I have read a couple volumes of the Manga and I enjoyed it so I will say it is definitely something I am interested in. And I’m not the only one who has read it. If you look close in some eps of Lucky Star you can see everyone’s beloved Kagami reading it. ^_^

Akiraman: Not sure if I want to watch this thorugh but it looks interesting if you like anime with supernatural themes. I will be on the lookout for this one since it might have action elements to it.

oOgA: Not my kind. I am pretty sick of such animes.

    Vampire Knight Guilty

    Air date: 6 October
    Animation company: Studio Deen

    Summary
Yuki’s earliest memory is of a stormy night in winter, wherein she was attacked by a vampire… And then rescued by another. Now 10 years later, Yuki Cross, the adopted daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, has grown up and become a guardian of the vampire race, protecting her savior, Kaname, from discovery as he leads a group of vampires at the elite boarding school. But also at her side is Zero Kiryu, a childhood friend who’s hatred for the creatures that destroyed everything he held dear, is now determined never to trust them. This coexisting arrangement seems all well and good, but have the vampires truly renounced their murderous ways, or is there a darker truth behind their actions. Is Kaname’s infatuation with Yuki the beginning of a forbidden romance, or is it something in her forgotten past that draws him to her. Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death.

Yuuki wants to know more about her true family and her forgotten past and starts a research. The secret will be revealed. Yuki, Kaname and Zero will show the begining of a new mystery and a forbidden love.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Since I finished the first season, I might as well watch this one. But it’s very unlikely for me to blog it. For those who don’t know, I blogged the first season, and it was hard for me to come up with something to say, since the anime is slow…and there are not much to talk about. So..yea, I don’t know why I blogged in the first place, but I did. Anyway, I hope that there will be some improvements this season, especially with the animation.

nutcase23: It got kinda draggy in the bottom half of the first season. But I guess I’ll be watching just to see what Zero will do now that he’s “cured”. That and Yuki is cute too.

Patz: Barely made it through 2 eps of the first season. No way in hell I would try again.

Akiraman: Okies a 2nd season of Vampire Knight. I liked the 1st one it balanced out comedy and serious drama sort of, but it lacked the action that I was hoping for. In the 2nd PV you can see Zero bitting Kaname. Lots of fans will go wild seeing that one.

oOgA: w00t! More Yuki x Zero fan love :P

He also discovers Chihiro’s dream of writing a novel, but she has never been able to fulfill that dream due to her condition. Renji then decides to help her fulfill that dream.

As for ef ~A Tale of Melodies~, it will focus on Yu and Mizuki.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: ef ~A tale of Memories~ was last year’s hidden gem. Boring at first but epic near the end. Here, we get a sequel of it. I like the first season, and I hope I can say the same for this one.

nutcase23: Oh yeah, one of the shows I’m definitely watching. I still can’t forget that scene with Miyako on the phone on the verge of cracking up. Epic.
I hope this season is at least as good as the first, if not better.

Patz: Season one is on my to watch list. Maybe once I get around to that I will check this one out too.

Akiraman: I missed the 1st season of this anime, but I might take a sneak peak into cause the 1st one did not hold my attention enough, maybe its because it was based off an eroge.

oOgA: MUST-WATCH-MUST-WATCH. 2nd season will follow up on the 2 other girls in ef. One of the epic visual novels to get a sequel just like the game.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I doubt that I will watch this one. Maybe I’ll just take a peek.

nutcase23: Samurai Jack comes to mind. Will check it out I guess.

Patz: This actually sounds kinda cool. I think I might check it out.

Akiraman: Sounds like the Lost Odyssey game or is it they copied from them?

oOgA: Story seems interesting. Might watch the first episode before deciding.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: What.. They’re actually doing this?? I’m even more surprised when I found out that Madhouse is animating it.. The studio that brings us the epicness of Death Note is animating this show.. Why..Why..

    nutcase23: HELL NO.

Patz: Still trying to figure out the why of this. But I am not the target so no watching.

    Akiraman:
Not much comments about a Disney movie gave up after the stopped producing good movies like Lion King.

oOgA: @Setsukyie - Why? because it might be good. Might watch this to relive some old memories. :P

Setsukyie: Can’t really say that I ‘love’ the first season, but it was decent. For some reason, I didn’t find it to be as good as most people say it is. But still, I’m looking forward to this.

nutcase23: YES. If you haven’t watched the live drama I suggest you do. Great piece of work, especially the orchestra scenes which the anime never fully expressed due to the use of static panning images. Must watch on my list.

Patz: Never watched season 1. So not watching season 2.

Akiraman: I watched the live-action version of it and liked it very much, I like how Nodame is a clumsy and disorganised girl. I am sure the anime version will have more laughs than the live-action one.

oOgA: Great piece indeed. Loved it! hence, it is a must watch here.

    Tytania

    Air date: 9 October
    Animation company: Artland

    Summary
The capital of the empire of Euria is attacked by the empire of Titania, a much more powerful enemy that controls a large part of the galaxy. The story follows a soldier who flees the Titania empire and seeks refuge with the rebellion force, that rose up since the battle.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Space Opera?? Not a chance. ^_^

    nutcase23: Lol space opera.
    From wiki,
Space opera is a subgenre of speculative fiction or science fiction that emphasizes romantic, often melodramatic adventure, set mainly or entirely in space, generally involving conflict between opponents possessing powerful (and sometimes quite fanciful) technologies and abilities. Perhaps the most significant trait of space opera is that settings, characters, battles, powers, and themes tend to be very large-scale.
What are the odds for another TTGL?
    I guess I’m interested.

Patz: New epic Space Opera from the writer of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. This is easily at the top of my list for the season. I cannot wait to check it out.

Akiraman: I am not so sure about another Space themed anime with Macross Frontier distracting me but I will have to check out the 1st few episodes to

oOgA: Only Macross impresses me, other than that, no.  Might try it after Frontier ends in October.

    Junjou Romantica 2

    Air date: 11 October
    Animation company: Studio Deen

A man-child who decorates his room in giant teddy bears and toys, Usami is a famous novelist who also writes steamy boys’ love novels on the side. When Misaki cracks open one of these books and reads sentences like “Misaki licks every inch of Usami’s hot body”…well, let’s just say that all hell breaks loose.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I actually watched the first episode of the first season, because I was ‘curious’. It was actually pretty good..if only it wasn’t yaoi. So..I’m staying away from this one. Anyone here watching this?

    nutcase23:
    Uh-huh. Pass.

Patz: Another one I can leave to Nutcase or maybe Setsukyie wants to watch something too.

Akiraman: Nope not for me but I know a friend who might like this.

oOgA: Never watched first season and I am not into yaoi.

    Chaos;HEAd

    Air date: 14 October
    Animation company: Madhouse

    Summary
Takumi is a high school student. He is withdrawn and is not interested in 3D things. In his town, a mysterious serial murder case happens and people get panicked. One day, when he chats on the internet, a man suddenly contacts him and gives him an URL. He goes to the website and finds a blog image that suggests a next murder case…. On the next day, it really happens….

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I’m really really looking forward to this. I don’t exactly know why though. I don’t dig yanderes and violence, but this one is an exception. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni didn’t turn out good to me, because the anime is ‘disturbing’ and I can’t stand it. I like the plot in this one though, and I hope that it will be more on the mysterious side, and less violence. Also, the game OP gave me the chills, and that’s a good thing. Plus, it’s by Madhouse, which promises quality. This is number 2 on my fall anime list (behind CLANNAD, of course). Can’t wait.

nutcase23: I dunno…this looks like persona and I never never finished that… Most likely will skip.

Patz: Ok is based on some kind of bloody Visual Novel or something? I unno maybe. Isn’t really at the top of my list.

Akiraman: I like Eroge to anime adaptation but will need to see the 1st episode to see how it goes…

oOgA: It is madhouse. It is serial murder! I am into it!

    Hyakko

    Air date: October
    Animation company: Nippon Animation

    Summary
Hyakko is a manga whose main heroines were four girls when the story started. But as the story goes, many unique classmates show up. Those girls sometimes twist the heroine around their little finger or vise versa. In many situations, they all have noisy get-togethers with each other, and that is really fun.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: The first thing that everyone will notice here is Hirano Aya. But even Aya-chan can’t make me watch this one. Sorry, not a fan of slice-of-life, unlike a certain person here..

    nutcase23: Lets see…
    Azumanga Daioh…Check. Manabi Straight…Check. Sketchbook…Check. Lucky Star…Check. Hidamari Sketch…Check. Minami-ke…Check.
    Hyakko…Check.

Patz: Sounds like it could be funny and has a cool cast. Odds are this is one of those things that people will love and I won’t watch until it is over.

Akiraman: Looks like another typical school themed anime, the only thing that might have it going is that Hirano Aya is voicing it. Its a short 13 episode so I might as well check it out.

oOgA: Too many animes for now, might watch this later but not at a priority.

    Noramimi2

    Air date: October
    Animation company: Unknown

    Summary
A world where mascots aren’t just marketing tools. Families contact mascot agencies, to find a suitable one for their children. This story focuses on one such agency, which has its very own mascot: Noramimi, the syrup-stirring Kaminari Kozo.

    Thoughts

    Setsukyie: Eh…just no..

    nutcase23: Uuuh….No.

    Patz: Not For Me.

Akiraman: Not much info but it seems to be about Mascots, I am not sure how it will turn out but it does look cute.

    oOgA: ??? Pass

    Rosario to Vampire CAPU2

    Air date: October
    Animation company: Gonzo

Just when he thinks he’ll run away from there, he meets the beautiful girl Moka and his mood turns ultra happy. However, she transforms into her true form when the rosary on her chest is taken off, she’s a super vampire!

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Ughh..not this again.. The only way they can make me watch this is by deleting all the fanservice scenes, which make up for 70% of the whole anime. But that’s not possible..isn’t it?

nutcase23: Gonzo’s sequel to the 2nd largest pantsu-fest (Strike Witches holds 1st hands down) I have ever watched.
I’ll be checking it out to see if they do any better this time since the manga is pretty interesting. (*Spoiler* Tsukue becomes ass kicking vampire *Spoiler*)

Patz: I watched and enjoyed the first season. Yeah I know GASP. Anyways I have started reading the Manga instead so I think I will be holding off on watching this atleast for now.

Akiraman: More eechi and fanservice in this one sign me on for more pantsu. (Nose bleed)

oOgA: Never watched first season and not planning to.

    Kannagi

    Air date: October
    Animation company: A-1 Pictures Inc.

    Summary

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: The plot doesn’t interest me. The most important thing for animes like this is comedy. So..yea, if it’s funny, I’ll watch it.

nutcase23: How can you not watch something with the title “Crazy Shrine Maidens”???
Well in all seriousness, I’m interested. I’m liking the character designs too so I’ll try to catch it if I have the time.

Patz: Sounds like it could be cute fun. Is one of those shows odds are I will start watching just so I have something a little simple on my plate along with all the sci-fi.

Akiraman: Sounds like another another sort of religious spirit deity anime, but what makes me want to watch is the makers of Tetsuwan no BIridy makers are doing the animation so it will be of good quality. I will need to check out the 1st episdoe to see how things pan out.

oOgA: title sounds awfully wrong, again this is not my priority list

    Michiko To Hatchin

    Air date: October
    Animation company: Manglobe

    Summary
The title’s Michiko is a free-willed “sexy diva” who destroys a supposedly inescapable prison fortress, while Hatchin is a girl fleeing her strict foster parents. The two join forces on an improbable escape to freedom.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Nothing interests me in this one. Actually, I don’t get it..

    nutcase23: I think I’ll be passing on this…

Patz: Sounds like it could actually be kind of fun. But there is nothing about it that makes me want to watch it.

Akiraman: Not really that interesting from the plot setup will need to see the 1st episdoe to see how it is.

    oOgA: By the same company who did Ergo Proxy, might give it a try.;

    Shikabane Hime: Aka

    Air date: October
    Animation company: Gainax

    Summary
The title “Corpse Princess” belongs to Makina Hoshimura, an undead girl who seeks to hunt down 108 corpses in order to go to heaven.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I’m gonna watch this, mainly because it’s from Gainax. Who can forget last year’s Gurren Lagann, the best anime of 2007. It was EPIC! and was a hit. It made me cry HAWT MANLY TEARS. And it wasn’t the first time Gainax made a hit anime (EVA). So..yea, I’ll be checking this one out.

nutcase23: So I’m guessing she kills zombies for salvation? =P
    House of the Dead anyone?
Anyway, it’s got my interest. I hope it’s good. It’s Gainax (TTGL) after all =D.

Patz: Might Check this out. Sounds like it has potential. I am for now on the wait and see if Gainax does good or not.

Akiraman: After Evangelion I wonder if their productions are getting weaker. Maybe this might be worth a shot, I do expect good animation and lots of action.

oOgA: Same as the rest, it is stirring my interest for some action.

    To Aru Majutsu no Index

    Air date: October
    Animation company: J.C Staff

    Summary
In a world where science clarifies supernatural powers. In a huge college that has power development in its curriculum. To a resident high school student, Kamijou Touma, a pure white sister appears. She calls herself “Index” and says that sorcerers are chasing her. Thus, Kamijou Touma enters the world of the occult.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Nah.. Unlike shoujo animes, I don’t have a soft spot for shounen animes. The only shounen animes I’m currently following is Soul Eater. As for this one, I don’t think so.

nutcase23: I’ve got a thing for shows with magic and technology (Nanoha). Again, I’ll check out the first few eps and see.

Patz: Nothing here that makes me go must watch. I would say it is in the same category as Kannagi for me.

Akiraman: From J.C Staff comes another magical supernatural anime. I do hope its funny like Zero no Tsukaima.

oOgA: Putting this to the end of my list.

    Kurogane no Linebarrel

    Air date: October
    Animation company: Gonzo

    Summary
Kouichi Hayase was involved in an accident and falls into a coma for half a year. Due to this accident he becomes depressed and lonely. However, unbeknownst to him he attained a great power and three years later a giant robot (Linebarrel), which was the cause for the incident, appears before him, causing Kouichi’s life to change.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Looks great. I love the plot and it’s a mecha anime, I’m into mecha animes lately (not for the robots, but for the awesomeness). But..it’s GONZO.. Well, they got a good line of seiyuus and the plot is interesting as well..but GONZO disappointed me many times before. Well, I’ll give them one more chance. If they screw this up, I have no hope for them anymore.

nutcase23: Oh yeah. Mecha FTW. Somehow this rings Fafner in the Azure. Definitely something I’m going to check out this season.
I hope there’s no pantsu though.

Patz: The Manga is really good. And here is hoping that Gonzo does a good job with the show. They seem to be promoting it alot so I have a feeling they put a greater effort into it then some other their other works. But just why did they have to have Hisashi Hirai do the character designs >_<.

    Akiraman:
More Mecha anime for the crew that brought you the pantsless Strike Witches. I hope it turns out good.

oOgA: I dont watch mecha with the exception of Macross

    Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka

    Air date: October
    Animation company: TNK

    Summary
In order to protect the girl Yuuhi Katagiri, a new transfer student, from danger, Junichi Nagase is forced to kiss her. Not understanding what happend, she screams at him, not knowing that her father has arranged for her to marry him

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Hirano Aya and Kugimiya Rie in an eroge adaptation? Hirano Aya playing a ‘imouto type character? Plus, it has Hirohashi Ryou (Kyou’s seiyuu)? I’M SOLD! Definitely watching this one, even if it’s because of the seiyuus alone.

nutcase23: I get the feeling this is gonna be bad so I guess I’m passing…

Patz: Not really that interested in this one. Maybe if it gets some praise but I’m not counting on that.

Akiraman: From Marvelous ENtertainment, but it seems to be an eroge adaptation. I wonder if it will turn out like H20 Footprints.

oOgA: Akane Iro was one of the well received eroge visual novels back then, I am pretty looking forward to this adaptation. With a strong cast backing this anime, I am gonna watch it.

    Casshern SINS

    Air date: October
    Animation company: Madhouse Studios

    Summary
Tetsuya Azuma, also known as Casshern, is a cybernetic neoroider who turned himself into a cyborg for the purpose of hunting down and destroying robots that have taken over the world. Casshern and his robotic dog, Friender, join forces with a beautiful girl named Luna to battle the robots led by their brutal boss known as the Black King.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Nah.. Not my cup of tea.

nutcase23: Think will pass. Not my cup of tea.

Patz: Here we go another one of my favorite for the season. I really liked the live action movie that was produced a couple years ago and then I saw the first episode of this previewed at Otakon and it was really cool. Has a real dark tone too it. Can’t wait to watch more. I am willing to bet it will kick some major ass.

Akiraman: Not sure if I want to watch a remake of the movie Casshern, after Ultraviolet form MADHOUSE I am a litte apprehensive about their remakes.

    oOgA: Yawns again…

    Kuroshitsuji

    Air date: October
    Animation company: A-1 Pictures Inc.

    Summary
One of the noble families of England - Phantomhive, has a butler, Sebastian Michaels. He has unquestionably perfect knowledge, manners, talent with materials. martial arts and much more. But he serves a 12 year old master.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I was looking forward to this one at first. I like Hayate no Gotoku! and all. But then I found out that it’s yaoi.. But I think I will watch this one.

nutcase23: The wiki entry has my interest piqued. A perfect butler who is actually a demon under contract to a 12 year old master and voiced by Ono Daisuke (Hosaka in Minami-ke and Ebisu in Wagaya no Oinari-sama). Oh yeah I can see where this can go.
Chalk another up in my list.

Patz: Nutcase can have this one I’ll pass.

Akiraman: Only reason I am interested in this is Sakamoto Mayaa is voicing it. Other than that its seems more for girls…

    oOgA: @Setsukyie - Yaoi?! I guess I will pass.

    Tentai Senshi Sunred

    Air date: October
    Animation company: AIC A.S.T.A.

    Summary
The story revolves around the hero Sunred’s battles against General Vamp and his shadowy group of minions in a spoof of classic Japanese anime and live-action special-effects shows.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: Nope. I’ll pass on this one.

    nutcase23: Double pass.

    Patz: ……………………………….

Akiraman: Might take a look since it is comedy.

oOgA: heh..might watch this when I am bored.

    Thoughts

Setsukyie: I don’t like watching sports. Enough said.

nutcase23: Sports anime. Never watched them, never will.

Patz: Hmm actually has a interesting premise to it. I might check this one out too.We will have to wait and see.

Akiraman: Anime based on baseball I assume? Not sure if it will be good.

oOgA: People who knew me well will know that I am not into sport animes or pure mecha. I will pass for this

    Bihada Ichizoku

    Air date: Unknown
    Animation company: Unknown

    Summary

    Thoughts

    Setsukyie: lol.. No way..

    nutcase23: Definitely not my type…

    Patz: Huh?

Akiraman: I like the character designs of this one so I may take a watch.

oOgA: More for girls I guess?

      lol fanboy mode.. activated! lolwut?

    5. September 11th, 2008 at 1:29 am #Twirble

I have yet to see anything on the “Switch” anime…are you waiting until winter or did you get it confused with “Stich”?

“Kuroshitsuji” is not Yaoi. Both the master and butler actually have relationships with other characters. (hint; one is furry)

Without spoiling I will say some chapters of the manga have alot of action and blood; definately not just for girls.

    6. September 11th, 2008 at 5:00 am #Setsukyie

@ kairukun: CLANNAD fanboy here. ^_^

@ Twirble: Didn’t notice that. I used THAT Fall 2008 Anime Preview as reference and there wasn’t any anime of that title there.

I read somewhere that it’s yaoi (or slight yaoi), or did my eyes deceive me.. Anyway, looking forward to it.

    7. September 11th, 2008 at 2:35 pm #wenwen

LOL! There are animes that are interesting this time ^_^ I still remember the loads of fanservice anime(that are not appealing to me, since I’m a girl) in Summer…
      And wow!!! MORE CLANNAD!!! YAY!!!
      Junjou Romantica has some really really good looking boys but…too bad it’s yaoi…and I’m not so…keen on that…though I’m a girl…oh well…LOL!
Kuroshitsuji looks nice, hope it’s not yaoi :p
Looking forward to Vampire Knight and Rosario+Vampire. Just hope that the anime won’t spoil the image for Rosario+Vampire this time…I happen to have the manga(till vol 10) and it’s nice! I just can’t seem to understand why the hell did they make the anime a complete fanservice show…
Definately checking out Tales of the Abyss ^_^
And also Akane iro no somaru saka. The girls look really cute, could use them for my ‘manga drawing studies’ LOL! Actually, I’m attracted to the story as well… :p
Shikabane hime seem like the type I’ll be jumping over to, I just love anime with loads of blood (but I’m no sadist :p I’m just a bit emo)
And that ‘rice cooker’ anime seem too much like To love Ru and I don’t like that anime…
I think I’ll pass on those mecha anime… Only Code Geass impress me in the mecha genre, the rest……um…should I say that I’m the only one that fell asleep after watching Gundam seed? hm…
And those card games and anime with weird drawings(Ten no Haoh)…not my type, although I don’t care about drawing style, the story does not intrest me as well…so…out…
Toradora seem really cool and cute! And Kugimiya Rie is really good at voicing characters like that, LOL! I’ve sort of realised something, she voices Tsunderes(Shana!!!) and also cuties that are actually ‘not that cute’. Like Murumo in Mirumo de pon. Murumo is cute but in reality, he’s not.

@ wenwen: Macross Frontier is awesome, and I recommend it to you as well. But if you want an EPIC mecha anime, try Gurren Lagann. EPIC!!! ^_^

    11. September 12th, 2008 at 9:57 pm #nutcase23

@oOgA & Setsukyie: This is a Fall Preview guys… stick to the topic already…… >_>

    12. September 12th, 2008 at 10:27 pm #Akiraman

@wenwen Kugimiya Rie will bring all the tsudereness to Toradora

@ Setsukyie: Ok, I’ll try Macross Frontier and Gurren Lagann ^_^

@ Akiraman: Ya, Kugimiya Rie is really good at bringing tsundereness to tsundere characters ^_^ Like Shana, Louise and Nagi ^_^ Did I miss out any? LOL!
