I’d say 43 shows is too much. I agree with some of the previous posts – I’m only interested in a handful out of that large batch. However, I feel that I should attempt to at least briefly look over most shows, in the off attempt of finding some kind of hidden gem amongst the pile.

so maybe in the end it comes down to not having enough time.

Well. Personally i think there is way too much anime this fall season. And yeah i think that is one reason why DVD profits are low because there is way too much..

But well I’m gonna watch like 20 of them but that’s not fixed probably if the show is boring I’ll dropped it..

There is no such thing as ‘too much anime’.
It’s just a matter of having ‘too little time’.

Normally, I’d say it was fine because I’m usually only interested in about 5 shows out of the 40-ish. This season, however, I’m looking forward to 17! Even if I drop half of them, I’ll still have a hard time keeping up.

In a sense, no. There’s never been too many anime shows to watch; but if you’re talking about taking the opportunity from the glut of anime shows that’s coming out this Fall, I’d say, “take the opportunity to watch/buy some of the anime series that was critically acclaimed/ridiculed (in accordance to your level of curiosity) in the previous seasons/years.”

That way, let the rest of the community rate the new season line-up, while you can still enjoy anime as a medium in general.
