Your events reporter is back with more local events! And more cosplay! Read on to see more!
This time round, it’s a little event in Central shopping mall down at Clarke Quay. Yeah, I realise that “Matsuri” and “Festival” mean the same thing so it’s a repeating of the word there but not everyone knows what “Matsuri” means.
Of course, me being there means that there is a cosplay event. The location was small but the conduct of the event was fluid with some pretty great MCs (in more ways than one =P). Another notable thing about this event was that the top prize was pretty interesting…
1st Prize : Luxurious trip to Bintan Island for 2 (ferry + accomodation)
2nd Prize : Shopping vouchers from CENTRAL (up to S$500)
3rd Prize : Shopping vouchers from CENTRAL (up to S$300)

Lets take a look at the competitiors. I can’t remember all their characters but I’ve seen some of the cosplayers around in other events.

Nagi from Katekyou Hitman RebornI think
L with his handphone. There was a whole bunch of them appearing suddenly sometime after. kinda over cosplayed.
Kurosaki Ichigo in vaizard and Bankai mode.
Some Professor/Demon guy from Devil May Cry. Never watched and played the game, never will. Especially the watching part. I’m too cheap to get a Playstation =P
One of my favorite contestants. Unfortunately her character name eludes me. So does the manga.
Lavi, Allen and Kanda from D.Gray Man
Simca from Air Gear. Hawt.
Kurosaki Ichigo (again) from Bleach. I’ve seen him many times and I love his Zangetsu. His performance involved some weapon swinging in which his Zangetsu slammed on the stage twice. Hard. Stage splitting performance indeed.
Err……his belt lights up! ^^” The mask took him 4 days it seems. His martial arts demonstration was impressive too.
“Hand me the first prize or I will launch FLEIA at you.”

Tifa from Advent Children. Judge said “No Comment” when asked for his opinion. Ouch.
L number 2. Interestingly, the Judge said he liked L cosplayers who don’t wear shoes. As true to character as possible eh?

Moar masked Rider. Never did like the series. Not the ones they air on my local TV anyway.

She won the “Most Kawaii” category. Frankly, I think it should have been most sexy =P.
He won the “Most Macho” category. Martial arts ftw I guess XD
And he wins the “Most Attention Grabbing (or something like that)” category. Big surprise.

Kurosaki Ichigo No.2!
His “stage-splitting” performance was attention grabbing (shocking actually since the thumps were really LOUD X_X) so I guess it impressed the judges. He wins a luxury trip to exotic Bintan Island. Rest for the weary cosplayer soul? XD
Anyway, here come the pics that I know you guys really want, those of the other non-contesting cosplayers. I prefer these since competition stages are crowded and the lighting can be poor for us compact wielders.

Before we begin, let me plug our lovely Garden City since this seems to be the tack our Tourism board seems to be taking with all the recent events Singapore has been hosting (which seems to be an awful lot this year, not that I’m complaining). The following pictures were brought to you from beside the lovely Singapore River. Come cruise down the waterway in old refurbished boats while snapping pictures of colourful buildings and lots of people cosplaying on shore. Thank you.
