Tora Dora is a light novel that has been adapted into an anime by J.C Staff I can’t say I’m too familair with thier work. But this has to be good as their is even a PSP light novel game coming out in 2009! I’ll be reviewing every episode please let me know where I can improve.

Meet this young lad named Ryuji! he is trying to look his best as today is the first day of being a second year high school student. Sadly for Ryuji he has a problem his eyes. See Ryuji’s a good guy but everyone seems him as a delinquent although hes not. While getting ready for school he bumps into his hung over mom sleeping on the floor.
She is totally oblivious to the fact he is starting school and mentions how he is starting to look more and more like his dad and acting like him too!
Ryuji gets upset that she mentions that and leaves for school. But on his way things still can’t go right for him two students from the same school automatically recognize him and hand him their wallets out of fear! Ryuji tries to explain but of course can’t. Being the honest citizen he is he drops the wallets off at the lost and found wihout as so much sneaking a yen or two.
Ryuji finally gets a break he runs into his good friend Yusaka Kitamura who understand that Ryuji isn’t a delinquent Yusaka mentions he’ll try and get the word out that he isn’t a good guy and turn around people’s perceptions of him. While chatting with Yusaka, Ryuji’s longtime crush Minori approaches nervous Ryuji spits out a few words and tries to brush things off by using the bathroom.
as he walks away he accidentally bumps into a smaller girl. Suddenly everyone around him is quietly talking about how he is already looking for trouble and how he is starting with the Palmtop Tiger! Ryuji is astonished that the girl is so small Suddenly he is punched for his troubles.
Her name is Taiga Aisaka she has a short fuse and now already hates Ryuji. She happens to be in the same class and is friends with Yusaka so all can’t be bad for Ryuji can it? later in the day after classes Ryuji forgets his bag in the class room and upon opening the door he sees desks and chairs being thrown about the class room. confused Taiga comes rolling out of the closet in the fetal postion. Ryuji not wanting to be punched again non cholently ignores her and gets his bag.
Upon grabbing his bag Taiga leaps off a desk with fury in her eyes! they wrestle over the bag but due to a cold she is having sneezes and the bag falls from her clutches. Ryuji confused gets the hell out of there in a flash. Back at home listening to music we find out that his father is dead and he was one of the “cool” guys well according to Ryuji’s mother. Then he remembers a questionaire he has to complete and starts rummaging though his bag he finds a love letter from Taiga but decides not to open it and just give it back to her but while messing around with it, it pops open but there is nothing inside so he quickly reseals it and drops it back in his bag and decides to sleep for the night.
Around 2 in the morning he hears a noise and knows his mom isn’t suppose to be back yet. Suddenly he is attacked by Taiga with a wooden sword! she says that he read the letter and now knows too much and must die. While fending her off he blurts out that their was nothing in the letter! exhausted she falls to the ground. Hungry Ryuji makes her a meal to which she promptly disses but eats it like she hasn’t eaten in several days.
Ryuji tells her that it isn’t that embarassing and proceeds to show her all the stuff he has imaged for his girlfriend down to mix tapes and poems. Taiga curious reads some of a notebook and finds out it is Minori. Ryuji quickly packs everything back up. Taiga admits that a love letter isn’t “fashionable” these days and starts to stammer, Ryuji justs wants to sleep and begs her to leave and promises to tell her how ot be romantic another day. Taiga says in the most cuttest voice “really you’ll do that for me, you’ll do everyting to the extremes like a dog?” not listening most likly he agrees just so she will leave. finally she leaves and they seem to be buddy, buddy and the days events are behind them.
The next morning she calls and asks where the hell he is and tells him to go out to his veranda. she so happens to live right next to him in the super tall sunblocking expensive apartments. He packs up some of his food he was making in proceeds over to her place. Upon knocking on the door nobody is home he lets him self in and finds a mess. He finds her in her room sleeping so he decides to clean the house (what a guy)
and make her meal.
[Impressions]
This was a great first episode but I find it kind of funny that Taiga and Ryuji are buddy, buddy. Also what the hell is up she lives on her own in a nice ass apartment whats up with that! either way I enjoyed the first episode and find it hard where it will go from here. I really hope I did not go too in depth with the overview please comment and let me know if I should say less. I’m not the best with summarizing as you can probably tell ;)
