@The Pon: Actually, from what I’ve heard, odex has no (direct) part in this round. News of Showgate’s letter sending came out a few months before this. Seems like the big boys are coming to play.

The thing is, why us? I’m sure the US has a much bigger impact/market compared to us. And I find it laughable to even suggest Singapore holds the 2nd largest market share (or anywhere near that) of anime viewership outside of Japan.

Or are we that insignificant a market such that we can be squashed without repercussions?

It’s inevitable that Odex will try to do something else again. Hiring Rajah & Tann makes the legal challenge a bit difficult (then again, R&T is one of the “Big 6 Legal Firms” in Singapore).

Honestly speaking, the only way to resolve this fight is to make a stand, for the victims, against Odex. In my opinion, the one year of silence was there to make sure that any loopholes have been plugged. I hope the victims have a fair representation soon.

No matter what they do, they can’t stop piracy..
