A trip to Kinokuniya is always a poisonous trip, I wanted to find Comptiq November but it wasn’t there yet. Just as when I was about to go home, this caught my eye (points to the picture above). Yes. The sola visual fanbook with 5 copies on the shelf was beckoning at me (lawl). Without hesitation, I bought it along with Megami Nov issue.
Aono & Matsuri. It’s a beautiful ending…

sola ended, well for the tv series. 13 episodes of goodness and the 2 DVD exclusives will be found in sola vol4 (25th sept) and sola vol5 (26th oct). Mark your calendars well if you are planning to buy the DVDs. The story concluded well but it is not perfect, for once, I felt there was no justice done for Mayuko and Takeshi but yea..it is 13 episodes and maybe the dvd exclusives will talk more about them. The ending scene reminds me of Kanon’s final ep..lol..yes..sakura petals flying all over, that’s sweet for sure.
Mayuko and Takeshi led a happy life together, Mayuko had a change of costume and yea…it is so “rozen maiden” alike. :P sousei seki anyone ? Nothing much was mentioned about them except that the both of them are happy with each other and lived happily ever after.
Aono became a human, Yorito perished into paper and Matsuri gave her life for Aono to become a human. All this just for Aono to live on as a normal person. Mana appeared towards the 2nd half and yea, she’s bubbly as usual and she has a hobby now, the very hobby that Yorito once had - a passion for the sky. Of course, she cant remember who is Aono or what but a chance meeting between Aono (a student now) and Mana interwined their passions for the sky together and became very close friends. Koyori learns origami and is much better at it. As Mana sets up her camera, the final scene zooms in on a table nearby - 2 tomato drinks. Yes. I guess we know what that can imply.

The episode brings new heights in the combat scene between Aono and Matsuri and I liked the way they mix their story from the past along with the present while they battle and in the midst of the battle, Yorito waits for his fate to come. Matsuri is determined to end this once and for all. Aono resists as her disappearance will mark the end of everything - her efforts for creating Yorito, her future with Yorito and basically the end of Yorito as well. It makes me feel a little sad for Aono when I saw the scene above but it’s already a mistake in the beginning and Matsuri is going to undo everything.
As the episode nears to an end, Matsuri did something that really shocked me. Well, she stabbed herself. I guess it was already expected somehow as Takeshi had briefed her to stab herself with the sword, her blood together with the sword will be able to undo Aono’s Yaka powers and return her to a human being. Oh and yea! the part where the flim of the sky was shown was a nice touch to it as well. Now, the crucial thing that comes to mind. If Aono becomes human, Yorito should disappear with Matsuri (if that stab is to meant to end her life)…that will leave Aono alone which makes no sense or rather..a sad ending. However, we dont see the sword going through Aono. It might meant something different. Next episode will be the tv finale for sola and after that , 2 extra DVD exclusives. I am looking fwd to it for sure.

[Impressions/Summary]
One of the sadest moments in sola, obviously, Yorito’s tearing down of the pictures of the sky meant that he is going to remove his own existance and disappear. Like in the previous episodes where they explain on Yakas, formed from the painful and uncertainty moments from humans. Now, they are going to remove their existances from the world. Everyone is leaving. The scene between Mana and Yorito was very well made. When everyone forgets about Yorito’s existance, Mana rushes to the school rooftop just to find Yorito to confirm his existance but Yorito remains silent and as they held each others hands, Yorito disappears suddenly and Mana seems to wake up from a dream and finds herself crying. It seems like Yorito’s existance was gone from Mana as well….damn, that was really sad, Mana deserves a good ending =\ I was hoping they will end up together (pretty much fat hope i guess)
Takeshi and Mayuko left the city earlier as she couldnt bear to see what is going to happen to Matsuri and the rest. The sword has been entrusted to Matsuri, Matsuri have made a choice with Yorito and it seems to involve Aono altough she isnt aware of it. As the episode ends, Yorito appears before Matsuri and the scene changes back to Aono. She was preparing to leave as Yorito had promised to restart everything again with Aono. A noise in the hallway and Aono thought that Yorito is back but she faces Matsuri in the hallway instead. With a sword in Matsuri’s hand, I can expect a big fight in the the next episode. I have a gut feeling that the 3 of them - Aono, Matsuri and Yorito is gonna disappear.
[Impressions/Summary]
Talking about ep09, I have to say this is one of my fave episodes in sola. The scene about Mayuko and Takeshi’s past was a very sad one and that nice song that accompanied with it “Binkan no Fuukei” simply made it the best enjoyable moment in sola. The battle scenes in this episode were awesome as well. Aono’s powers with origami simply pwnz and Matsuri gets it the hard way.
As for ep10, hmmm…this episode really caught me off guard as I didnt expect it to happen this way, my attention was focused on the identies on Matsuri, Aono and Mayuko and somehow when they showed about the identity of Yorito, I was shocked. He wasnt a human, not some resurrected being by either one of them but merely an existance made by Aono purely by paper. I should have expected it earlier since Aono’s powers majors in origami. So..there is no Yorito, he is long dead in the past and the current Yorito is just an illusion, an existance made of paper. Matsuri’s not bothered by it though for whom she knows is the current “Yorito”. Towards the end, Matsuri gave him a kiss to show him that he can still do things independent on his own despite he was created by Aono and prolly fused with memories of Yorito’s behavior and she suggested that the both of them should disappear together. Towards the end, Matsuri asks Takeshi how to use the sword. Seems like she is gonna plan smth with it.
3 more episodes…. and 2 more additional dvd exclusive episodes. how will sola end ? or rather..how do u wish it to end ? Will Matsuri and Yorito be together? what about mana?! arrrgh! I am a Mana fan btw. :P
