Exploding iPod 02

In Japan an iPod Nano [the older version] caused fire damage to bedrooms and explode across floors. I personally would like to see an exploding iPod, but for the Japan Trade and economy ministry has issued a strong warning to Apple for failing to report the incident when it occured.

Profile 2.0 Blu-ray players by Sony confirmed

 wow_bdp-s550_.jpg

Source: Anandtech / Picture Source: Sony

Both the upcoming Sony models, the BDP-S350 and the BDP-550, support BonusView and BD-Live. Both also feature an external port for local storage, but only the BDP-S550 includes a 1GB storage device. The BDP-S550 also differentiates itself with dts-HD High Resolution Audio and dts-HD Master Audio decoding as well as 7.1 channel analog audio output.

Never mind about the funny terms. Bonusview means Picture-in-picture view (PIP) and BD-Live means it incorporates an Ethernet port for firmware updates and web content.

The price? The BDP-S350 will retail this summer for about $400 and BDP-S550 will be available this fall for about $500.

Wal-Mart, the largest retail chain in the world, has announced that it “will offer only Blu-ray [Disc] movies and hardware machines, as well as standard definition movies and DVD players, and up converts.” It will begin phasing out HD DVD, Blu-ray’s high-definition disc format competitor, in less than 30 days and finish by June.

Refer to Podcast #1 for details here (link is not up yet)

Earlier, Japanese broadcaster NHK broke the news that Toshiba decided to cancel the development of further HD DVD technologies, but to manufacture current HD DVD players for some time. A production plant in northern Japan is already confirmed to be shut down

HD-DVD defeated ? Is this the end?

Moldable mouse…

mold_mouse.jpg

into any shape u want ?

Made of nylon, lightweight moldable clay and polyurethane fabric , this moldable mouse by Lite-on allows you to shape its contours whatever u want (i am sure there is a limit) and the buttons, scroll wheel can be stick-on to anywhere u like and communicates with radio frequency. The in-house designers, if I am not wrong are from Singapore.

Now, I wonder if there will some company who can make ummm..something ecchi out of it. tsk

[Hardware]
TG Daily reported on a new hardware targeted at businesses who requires powerful and fast storage.
Extract:
IoDrive is a PCI Express card with a controller and NAND flash chips. This isn’t a controller for other drives, but rather a self-contained storage device that can be easily popped into an empty motherboard slot.
