GDH, the parent company of the Gonzo anime studio, has announced on March 31 that it will allow international customers to set their own price for downloading The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk and Blassreiter anime on the Crunchyroll video-sharing site.

Honestly, I am skeptic on how this model of payment works.

The DVD episode’s focus will be on the character Megumi Kuryu and this extra episode will be shipped along with Vol 9 (the finale) of the DVD which is slated for retail on Aug 22.

Appleseed TV anime series will be slated for a 2009 release and Character designer, Mikimoto will be working for the TV anime Appleseed: Genesis. For those who might know, Mikimoto is the character designer who did Macross and Gundam 0080.

Kodomo no Jikan Season 2 Confirmed ! More lolis for you, Sir?

A special limited edition of the 5th volume manga will retail on 11th July that will include a promotional trailer video of the 2nd season in a DVD.

The official website for Winter Sonata the Animation, the adaptation of the hit live-action Korean drama series, has launched with a trailer. Click on the trailer link to launch the trailer. I am looking forward for this. ;)

hasshown that in the United States, there have been over 6
million downloads in any given week.
In answer to this, the Copyright Network for Comic Authors
in the 21st Century, The Association of Japanese
Animations and the Japan Video Software Association with
cooperation from relevant government ministries, have
established a countermeasure council to address the issue
of internet piracy with particular attention on Fansubs. The
first meeting is scheduled to be held in April.

Tokyo Anime Center executive producer Masakazu Kubo considered fansubs as a form of “pirated copies. Earlier on, the working group suggested that it may be necessary to approach the illegal uploaders directly, so that Japan can formally approve these sites. We shall expect a few major changes to sites like Youtube, Nico Nico Douga and other related websites.

It is apparent they are pushing for a new direction in the anime industry. Of course, we wouldn’t know where this new direction will lead us, both the anime companies and the fans to.

I like Hayate No Gotoku! very much and I’m very happy to hear the news. Even though it’s already 52 episodes long, I still can’t get enough of it. Why? Because of certain things that Hayate No Gotoku! have and other animes don’t. One of the obvious one is the wide variety of lovable characters. From the tsundere-Nagi to the can’t-help-but-to-love-Maria and other awesome characters such as the perfect-girlfriend-material-Hinagiku.

Other things that I love about the series are the characters breaking the 4th wall and the anime references. Hayate No Gotoku! has minimum plot and most of the episodes are not related to the plot at all. But I don’t mind and it’s good to watch animes like this once in a while. I don’t even mind if Hayate No Gotoku! goes on forever because I will never get tired of it. So, I hope that the 2nd season will be at least 52 episodes long just like the 1st one.

The Crunchyroll video-streaming website has announced today that it will offer the Speed Racer animated series via ad-supported, subscription, and download-to-own video services.

I have been keeping track of news on Crunchyroll and it seems that it is receiving lots of good updates lately. With the recent US$4mil boost into Crunchyroll and Gozno’s interest, Crunchyroll now brings you free high quality and H264 streaming. It is good.

i have some really GREAT news! im sure some of you have noticed already, but i figured out a way so everyone can watch the hi-quality streams ^_^ but it requires a little work on your side by installing a new Bittorrent client (its pretty easy and i know many of you already use it). cuz its p2p, it should be faster for you guys to stream and it will cut back on the bandwidth cost a lot! if you click on the high quality/h264 link, it’ll take you to the download page to install if you don’t have it yet! (edit: well, for some videos u dont need it..only the really popular videos).

The Tower of DRUAGA -the Aegis of URUK- and BLASSREITER, the same day it airs in Japan!

The Tower of DRUAGA -the Aegis of URUK- premieres on April 4th and is directed by Koichi Chigira, who also directed some of my favorites like Full Metal Panic! and Last Exile!
BLASSREITER premieres on April 5th and is directed by Ichiro Itano, who’s worked on Gantz and Macross Zero!

The best part is the streaming will stay FREE and any ads on it will help pay for the costs and go back to the creators too! There will also be a lot of other cool stuff i can’t talk about yet ^_^

Kadokawa takes another step further in providing Mamoru kun anime for free in Youtube. All 24 episodes are now available in Kadokawa channel of Youtube for a limited time.

Earlier on, they had Full Metal Panic and Mushi-uta in Youtube as well.  \o/

Both regional arms of Bandai Visual “are now rushing to reschedule all future releases, focusing on Blu-ray” for both new and old titles.

According to Konno, the decision to focus on Blu-ray was largely instigated by the staff in Japan.

Bandai Visual announced on the delay of releases like True Tears, sola and Shigofumi. I guess all the hype and excitement about porting the recent animes to the States has gone down the drain.

The May issue (released on March 19) of Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine has announced the official title of the upcoming fourth anime television series in the Slayers fantasy comedy franchise: Slayers Revolution.

韓国の聯合ニュースは１８日、人気ドラマ「冬のソナタ」のアニメーション版が制作されることになり、ドラマの主演男優ペ・ヨンジュンさんが主人公の声を担当すると報じた。ペさんの所属事務所の話として伝えた。

In simple words, it means as what the title implies. :) Korean lead actor for Winter Sonata, Bae Yong Joon will voice for the anime as well.

More details to be revealed in TAF 2008 which is taking place in Mar 28.
