I was going to wait till the first few episodes of the new season came out until I made my mark on Banzai, but I feel I needed to get my writing ‘eye’ (hands/fingers?) in. So I’ll start off with something simple, like Macross…

A quick glance at the blogging community shows a vague upsurge in the number of macross (ok, maybe saturated by the Gabriela Robin site on the Maaya opening sequence – Triangular) post over the past month or so, notibly for the imminent arrival of the 25th Anniversary series ‘Macross Frontier’. For some, the prospect of more Macross constitutes to – “Wow, cool effects” and “w00t, epic transformations!”, results of the visually spectacular but unfortunately rather insipid plot of Macross Zero.

Shōji Kawamori can be regarded as the father of Mecha designs in Japan, since having co-created Escaflowne, Eureka 7 and nearly every Macross series, he has become an established Mecha designer for both anime, toys and videogames. He designs mecha using Legos! The new Macross F VFs were designed using this method the TV presenter were surprised that his LEGO VFs can transform as well

Macross F will feature the return of Maaya Sakamoto, she will lend her beautiful voice to the main OP theme song “Triangluar” for Macross F when it airs in April (2008.04) in Japan. The project will be a reunion with composer Yoko Kanno as well. I am excited to see how this will turn out as am a fan of both Maaya Sakamoto and Yoko Kanno. If you have not seen Macross F I suggest you get the first OVA episode from the usual sources its a real treat to watch with the new redesigned VFs and very well designed characters.
